People used to a garden & their own front door are not so keen on flats & in our experience service & maintenance charges are seriously high. We intended to downsize when living from Yorks to West Mids but ended up in a bigger house for these reasons. 130

Israel's actions in Gaza, West Bank, and wider Middle East are currently top of the list but there are many places in the world where one country is trying to take the territory of another by force, & drive out/destroy populations. 200

Sue from SE5 @suefromse5.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Then when they've completely blocked the pavement they stand in the road. I know schoolkids jump the queue, I've seen them in Stratford on Avon. And I know in London and in bus stations it's a bit of a free for all. But here, in the street, in sedate little towns, it's just NOT ON!!! 000
Sue from SE5 @suefromse5.bsky.social · 10/09/2026We are in the Cotswold for a few days and I am APPALLED by the behaviour of overseas tourists in the bus queues. Or bus not queues if you're from overseas. They sneak up in small groups to look at the timetable then stay there right by the bus stop regardless of how long the queue is. 100

Sue from SE5 @suefromse5.bsky.social · 20/08/2026But it's a book festival, not a celebration of writers. All sorts of people write books - scientists, historians, news presenters, politicians, brain surgeons - not just someone who has an MA in creative writing. And if books by "celebrities" get people reading then why not? 060
Sue from SE5 @suefromse5.bsky.social · 17/08/2026I think it's the lack of regs which makes the riders of these bikes & scooters think of themselves as a pedestrian trying to get around rather than a fast moving vehicle capable of hurting someone. They whizz up & down my street on the pavement & it's a really quiet road & has little moving traffic. 100
Sue from SE5 @suefromse5.bsky.social · 16/08/2026Quick question. What's your UK local council doing about cyclists and scooters (e-machines and manual ones) riding carelessly and very fast on pavements with no thought for pedestrians & other pavement users? Are they trying education, bans, lobbying for regs? It can't just be an issue in my town. 000

Sue from SE5 @suefromse5.bsky.social · 06/08/20262/2 The burial registers show them buried mostly on the same day or in the same month. So I'm interested in the practicalities of this as well as the financial costs and how people might have felt about this. Also mourning rituals other than the Victorian ones for clothes, ribbons etc. Thanks 120

Sue from SE5 @suefromse5.bsky.social · 30/07/2026What struck me the most about the article, which I read in full on another post, is the line "there will be plenty of losers".
