Yes. It’s the one with the mega drive dongle. It’s connected to the blue adapter on the picture. Mega drive and master system controllers are compatible with the MSX with a simple pin swap the adapter does.

I had zero time today to play with my MSX2. Sad day, or night. There are so many games I haven’t been able to run. I’m starting to believe the MSX Pico is to blame and I should try another cartridge. They’re quite expensive though. Hmmm…

Loom is so cool. Probably inspired Ocarina of Time of all things. I played it on a laptop I believe. I think it was a p100 or something. I remember it had a sound card obviously to play loom. I also played Myst in that laptop. It was my girlfriend’s dad laptop at the time. Circa 1997.

The MSX system had interesting ways of dealing with things. You can have things that look like game cartridges but are actually memory or sound expansions. And you can have the expanded audio and regular audio running at the same time which kind of blows my mind a little bit.

For me it would probably be H.E.R.O. on the Atari 2600. I used to love that one. I replayed it recently but Atari games are not my favorite these days. They are a bit too simplistic and Arcady.

Gradius is pretty much a banger across all platforms and it’s great playing it on the MSX 2 here as well. Much more simple graphics than Space Manbow, but it doesn’t matter, still fun.

Oh amazing, thanks! I’ve been looking for solutions even as far as hardware upgrade. I still haven’t found a clear path to hardware upgrade but I’ll try the patch!

Space Manbow is a marvel on the MSX 2. The best looking game I’ve seen so far and a blast to play. But man does it get choppy. It’s definitely more suited for an MSX 2+. In the future I’ll see if I can get any more performance out of this one.

Hmm I don’t know. The few times I felt very fit in my life I think my ego was so high I couldn’t even take notice of what people said to me lol. I’m always reasonably fit, but low body fat is something I only achieved once or twice for a month or 2 in my life.

Now that I’m thinking about it, I don’t even believe that is leak. I think it’s glue to make it more stable considering the size. So yeah, zero leaking caps. I wonder if someone already swapped them.

I finally decided to look inside my MSX2 to find out what 40 years of use has done to it. I need to redo the solder joints on the p1 controller port, nothing I can see but it isn’t working properly and it’s a little bit jiggly. Also that one big leaky cap needs to go.

Busted the n64 out. I want to do the RGB mod for it. The image quality doesn’t look half as bad on the video as it did in person. It’s really fuzzy.
