Tidal flooding continues at Virginia's waterfront through tomorrow. Northeast winds and the developing nor'easter make this a long duration flood. Sea level is rising from the warming climate, so these floods are getting worse. Land is also sinking in Norfolk, compounding the problem.

Post rally picture — grabbing coffee and breakfast at Urban Farmhouse in Shockoe Slip. Those of us... of a certain age... remember Kepone in the James River and the consistent summer haze over the city in the '70s and '80s. Let's not go back to that.

The message is enticing, but when you get to the poll, it becomes painfully obvious... This is not an objective poll. This is a GOP scheme disguised as innocuous polling — the framing of the questions is steeped in a paranoid and bizarre word salad of lies and misreprentations. (2/n)

2:50pm Risk for Richmond is highest between 4-8pm, but there are signs of additional storms developing well into the night. First wave of storms already in Buckingham and Culpeper, and additional ones are firing upstream — the Culpeper storm has already produced quarter-sized hail in Luray.

For record-keeping purposes, we're using meteorological summer — the 3 hottest calendar months of the year (Jun-Aug). Obviously with temperatures in the 90s this week, classic summer is not over yet. But a good time to review as Labor Day nears.
11th hottest summer on record

25th consecutive summer hotter than 20th century average

11 of the last 12 summers more humid than average

Most humid August since 2021

Records go back to 1880. Summer is defined as meteorological summer: the 3 hottest calendar months of the year (June, July, August). Yes. It's the burning of fossil fuels — increasing the concentration of carbon dioxide and methane in the atmosphere.
