Moral Geohazard @subduction.bsky.social · 10/07/2026I don’t fear death, but I do fear my last moments being on Ryanair. 020
Moral Geohazard @subduction.bsky.social · 10/07/2026@greatdismal.bsky.social I have to ask, is it more vindicating or more distressing that you basically prophetically nailed the future by 1982? 000
Moral Geohazard @subduction.bsky.social · 10/07/2026Eight years ago I got held up at gunpoint by a FDLR guerrilla near Nyiragongo, past the UN line in North Kivu, DRC. We were taking fissure measurements and I had my film camera on me, taking shots until we were held up. I just realized the guerrilla is in the background of one photo, watching us. 000
Moral Geohazard @subduction.bsky.social · 09/07/2026Well that just makes me want to swear even more. 000
Moral Geohazard @subduction.bsky.social · 09/07/2026On what legal basis? Pretty sure we’re allowed to swear at the government. 100
Moral Geohazard @subduction.bsky.social · 09/07/2026I know just enough about IndyCar to know this isn’t about Penske giving up on life and nothing else. 010
Moral Geohazard @subduction.bsky.social · 09/07/2026Oh same, I know the Modwave sounds great. I just had too high a potential energy barrier there. 000

Moral Geohazard @subduction.bsky.social · 09/07/2026My dog absolutely freaked out about needing to go out at 4 am. Thinking he actually needed to go out, I quickly learned he was just being a manipulative little jerk. His morning walk is AFTER coffee today, thank you very much. 000
Moral Geohazard @subduction.bsky.social · 04/07/2026This is Google’s old compliance framework, I believe. They’ve released a more complaint V2 but since it’s less abusive companies don’t switch. Reminder that it’s really not much more effort to complain to a regulator than it is to complain on bluesky. 000

Moral Geohazard @subduction.bsky.social · 02/07/2026You know, I don’t think I’d trust a company telling me how cookie consent isn’t necessary when they’ve got a prohibited dark pattern, pre-ticked consent, and no cookie enumeration in their own cookie banner. 000
Moral Geohazard @subduction.bsky.social · 02/07/2026So, that’s a no to no dark pattern or appropriate consent for GTM, then? 010
Moral Geohazard @subduction.bsky.social · 30/06/2026Has Ralf announced Mick is in consideration to take his birthday yet? (I kid, I kid) 000
Moral Geohazard @subduction.bsky.social · 26/06/2026Almost there. You still need equal prominence for the buttons per UK ICO guidance and you're sending traffic to Google Tag Manager without consent pre-interaction with the banner. :) 000
Moral Geohazard @subduction.bsky.social · 25/06/2026Where's the "reject all" button on the first layer for your cookie consent banner, though? 200

Moral Geohazard @subduction.bsky.social · 03/06/2026I can think of a few Turkish languages departments at universities in the US who uncritically say things like this on the department page. Like hey, @universityofkansas.bsky.social, why is your Turkish department presenting a fringe theory as fact? Ping your ling dept about it? sges.ku.edu/turkishsges.ku.eduTurkish 100
Moral Geohazard @subduction.bsky.social · 22/05/2026Neither is accepted. That distinction matters because there are distinct theoretical groupings that are more expansive than "core" Altaic but there's still no genetic relationship and no Proto-Altaic outside of fringe theorists. This is "umm actually" from a historical linguist. :) 100
Moral Geohazard @subduction.bsky.social · 21/05/2026Extra linguist useful fact: Altaic, as a sprachbund and not a language family, lacks a proto- form and the only proto-Altaic dictionaries out there are taken about as seriously within the Linguistics community as young earth publications are in geology. :) 100
Moral Geohazard @subduction.bsky.social · 20/04/2026Ural-Altaic is completely rejected by the linguistics community, though. The roots are into Proto-Eskaleut. 000
Moral Geohazard @subduction.bsky.social · 20/04/2026Wiktionary often contains IPA for proto forms searchable by root. 100

Moral Geohazard @subduction.bsky.social · 26/02/2026Since I’m looking up content for two very different levels of skier, I think my algorithm is getting confused by the dichotomy of “how to stand up on skis” and “drills to send Corbet’s” as two types of searches. 010

Moral Geohazard @subduction.bsky.social · 30/01/2026Fair question: why don't you have opt out on the first layer of the cookie consent banner? 000
Moral Geohazard @subduction.bsky.social · 29/01/2026You're also shoving Google Analytics under "strictly necessary" when it cannot be used in that way. 000
Moral Geohazard @subduction.bsky.social · 29/01/2026Hey, how are you GDPR compliant with the laundry list of third party tracking ID cookies being set prior to any interaction with your consent banner? 100
Moral Geohazard @subduction.bsky.social · 23/01/2026Ferrari getting praised and Audi clowned on for their respective liveries has convinced me that the average F1 fan thinks nostalgia is synonymous with good design. 000

Moral Geohazard @subduction.bsky.social · 14/01/2026Ferrari makes ugly, slow cars now and I think we need to admit at some point that this is a trend from our favourite midfield team rather than an outlier from a solid frontrunner. 000
Moral Geohazard @subduction.bsky.social · 14/01/2026Adams always gave off, and sort of owned, the vibe of someone who circumstances -allowed- to be an awful human being instead of making him into one. He was also responsible in part for the radicalization of a lot of boomers. 000

Moral Geohazard @subduction.bsky.social · 06/01/2026It’s still how awards are weighted, regardless of who wins. Movies above TV, length doesn’t matter.
