Should note that he has been Like This for a long, long time - he's infamous in Israel for ruling in 2004 that IDF soldiers should be allowed to harm Palestinian civilians in war, and in 2008 that Jews should not employ or rent apartments to Arabs. Truly one of the most racist/violent rabbis around.

Israelis for Peace NYC - who are near and dear to my heart - held a vigil in which they read testimonies and eulogies of both Israelis & Palestinians on this incredibly difficult night. It's not for everyone, but to have it disrupted in this way is absolutely shameful.

אני חושבת שיש טעם לנהל שיח על זה בשפה שבה אדם מנהל את חייו האישיים והפוליטיים, ולכן יש כמובן גם טעם לכתוב על זה בעברית למי שנמצא בסביבה שמתנהלת בעברית, גם אם בני השיח הם קבוצה קטנה. זה לא נותן רשות להיות מנותק מהשיח בשפות אחרות, אבל כתיבה היא גם מנגנון הבהרה פנימי ולא רק תקשורת כלפי חוץ.

יש מתח מובנה, אבל יש תמורות לאורך השנים. ברור שחלק מהסיבה קשורה לטאבו בתוך החברה הפלסטינית, אבל תהליך קבלת האזרחות גם מלא קשיים וישראל בפועל מאשרת חלק מצומצם יחסית מהבקשות, וגם זה אחרי סחבת של שנים. אני לא יודעת אם יש נתונים יותר עדכניים, אבל ניר חסון כתב ב-2022 על שאילתא של מוסי רז בנושא:
