I've been told that too here in KZN. I've also been told people know it's a fallacy. Anyway, having a pristine tourist friendly environment will create a lot more better jobs than trash collection.

A friend in Durban put up a sign in isiZulu on his Durban road asking people not to litter. It had an immediate positive impact. But no one in government has taken the same initiative to educate and motivate citizens to kerp our country clean. www.dailymaverick.co.za/article/2026...

Such an important point. None of the political parties have recognised the opportunity to use this as a point of difference - how clean we keep our towns and cities should be a source of pride. Instead the filth paints a picture of decay and decline. www.dailymaverick.co.za/article/2026...

This is exactly what will come. Tembisa hospital was small change. Motsoaledi and the ANC butchered what could have been a world class free healthcare system, and are now trying to hijack the private sector. Reality - South Africa already has free healthcare for all. The ANC just can't run it.

There's no one to feel sorry for in this sordid tale. Not the players whose trophies were won on the back of a massive squad fraudulently bought, which meant that they were surrounded by stars who shouldn't all have been there. Neither the fans who revelled in the depth/dominance of that squad.
