The pickup combination is fantastic. Strangely enough, I only have one guitar with a P90 and a humbucker. It’s a Shergold Masquerader, which I bought 10 years ago in the UK – a guitar designed by Patrick James Eggle, featuring a solid(!) rosewood neck.

It’s difficult to make a general statement here. Despite their quality, they still feel like imported guitars, which is a shame. With perhaps an extra hour’s work on the frets and a slightly higher-quality nut, they could well be in a class of their own in that price range. Either way… I like them.

You can tap the string at the first fret. It's important to keep the string pressed down between the second and third fret. If there’s a gap, you’ll hear a distinct 'plop'. If you don’t hear anything, the string is resting flat against the fret. 🔊👂🏻

You can check this by slipping a strip of paper into the nut slot of the D string, underneath the string. If the buzzing stops, it’s a nut issue. However, it could also be because the truss rod needs loosening, since you’re now using a lighter string gauge.

These are my favorite guitars: My custom-order Explorer (made by T.S. Lietz, Essen, Germany) and my 1991 Gibson M-III H Standard. 🔥 I specced the Explorer like a Strat: Swamp Ash body, Maple bolt-on neck, Rosewood fingerboard, 25.5" scale length. The M-III also features a 25.5" scale length.
