100%! Friction is a massive player-killer. Marketing issues definitely take care of the rest. Did you get a chance to jump into a round yet? Would love to know your thoughts!

Currently, the 5-player cap is tailored to our map sizes. It works best for now, but it's definitely subject to change later in development.

H.Stucki @stucki.cc · 12/07/2026
Matches are currently capped at 5 players, so it's always pretty close to a 1v1. Scaling the restock to headcount is still a great way to fine-tune that transition.

H.Stucki @stucki.cc · 12/07/2026
Great idea, I'll test that out. Right now, it's just a flat amount regardless of player count.

H.Stucki @stucki.cc · 12/07/2026
Balls actually restock during the endgame when players face off. I don't think it's an exploit, but I'll definitely look into it and run some playtests to be sure.

Thanks for the feedback! Kiting the ring is actually possible because the zone doesn't close that fast. However, with this strategy, you will run out of balls really quickly since ammunition is quite rare at the beginning.

Hey bsky! 👋 I'm a teacher making games on the side. Powerball just entered Open Alpha! A browser-based arena game where you collect and throw balls while the arena shrinks. No download. No account. I'd love your feedback! 😊 🎮 stuckimakes.itch.io/powerball #gamedev #indiedev #screenshotsaturday

I’ve fallen completely in love with Subnautica! So my game development was a bit stalled for a while. Now I’m back on track and finishing up my current NPC. #gamedev #indiedev #characterdesign #screenshotsaturday

Working on the character design for my Soldier NPC 🎨 Not a boss. Not a miniboss. Just the most dangerous standard enemy you'll meet in Powerball. #gamedev #indiedev #characterdesign #screenshotsaturday
Hand-painted concept art of an enemy NPC. The humanoid machine has a bulky armored body, a large shot-mechanic mounted on one arm, and a furry power reservoir. Component labels point to its energy shield, spinshot weapon system, and power reservoir in a sketchbook-style presentation.

Working on the character design for my Harvester NPC 🎨 A hostile, modular machine — early concept, but already defining the world’s tone. #gamedev #indiedev #characterdesign
Hand-painted concept art of a Harvester enemy: a rugged, multi-wheeled machine with exposed mechanical parts and a worn, industrial look, shown with labeled components in a sketchbook style.

One of the potential designs for the sketches! For the text boxes I am still figuring out the UI—perhaps transparent blue overlays to give it that in-game HUD feel. Any thoughts?

For storytelling between game scenes — what actually works best? Polished AI videos, rough handmade art + audio, or just simple text boxes? I’m torn 👀 what do you prefer? #gamedev #indiedev #gamedevquestion

I think moving most of my game logic to the backend was a mistake for this project. It cost me ~6 months without adding much gameplay value. Great learning, but I wouldn’t do it again for a prototype. #screenshotsaturday #gamedev #indiedev Here’s the current state 👇

Added mobile controls! 📱 I tried different ways to keep strafing without using two joysticks. Now there’s a single joystick with two perimeters — the outer ring for walking, the inner ring for looking. What do you think? Try it 👉 stucki.cc/Powerball/ #gamedev #indiedev #screenshotsatuday

Just wrapped up the blockout for my game Powerball 🥎 Built with @threejs.org + @fastapi.tiangolo.com 🚀 — runs in your browser, no installs. Still early & a bit rough, but I’d ❤️ your thoughts! 10 playtest slots open until 20:45 UTC 👀 www.stucki.cc/Powerball #blocktober #gamedev #indiedev #blender3d

This is my current solution for third-person camera clipping in three.js. It works, but it’s far from perfect 😵 💫 What would you suggest to improve it? #gamedev #indiedev #screenshotsaturday

It's lovely. I really love the continuity of the world and the flat shading. It looks like a graphic novel.

Gamedev math: 2h = 2w, 2w = 2d 🤯 Some tasks I thought would take forever were done in days. Others I expected to be quick dragged on for weeks. Examples: ✔️ ball bouncing ✔️ Arm up, ready to throw That last was very tricky – AdditiveAnimationBlendMode messed up many animations #gamedev #indiedev

Moodboard for my Powerball level. The map will have two equally important parts: 🗼 Tatlin-inspired vertical tech-steel zone with pipes and platforms 🌱 an urban-guerrilla-gardening inspired horizontal maze-like area #gamedev #indiedev #leveldesign

You can never have too many arms 😀 Like shiva. I also had a character sketched out going into that direction.

Turned my cardboard model into a Blender file ? Now the main architecture for my Powerball level is set! I’m thinking of surrounding it with a mix of guerrilla-gardening park and maze. #gamedev #indiedev #leveldesign #blender3d

Trying to sketch the main building for my Powerball map – inspired by Tatlin’s Tower. But I couldn’t wrap my head around it on paper… so I built a cardboard model instead. How do you usually start your level designs? Sketching, or straight into 3D? Really curious to hear 👀 #gamedev #indiedev

I’ve seen a cool option C: showing the player controller as a skeleton when behind walls. But I’ll probably go with option B. I don’t enjoy the FPV switch in Fortnite when the camera clips. Curious what your pick would be 🤔

Opinion poll: You set up a character controller (a jelly-like courgette 🥒), added a third-person camera… and hit the classic clipping problem. How do you fix it? A. Move the camera (e.g. with a spring) B. Render walls transparent C. Something else? #gamedev #indiedev

After my first 1v1 Powerball match with a friend, we had a long chat about the game – and ended up with this first wishlist: #gamedev #indiedev
Wishlist:
- Throwing should happen instantly on click (no launch delay)
- Add a run gamestate
- Proper level design
- UI design
- Fix camera clipping into geometry
- Animate remote players between network updates

First 1v1 Powerball match! It was so exciting to see the core concept working in the test level – though I also realized there’s still a long way to go. #gamedev #indiedev #video

That describes it perfectly! Maybe "*1<<' could even work as a name?

In three.js it’s less jelly-like than in Blender – but I think the reduced style makes it pretty fun to watch.

The fifth and final Powerball character is also from outer space… it looks like a jelly-like courgette 🥒🪐 Still nameless ‼️ any suggestions? #gamedev #indiedev #blender3d

The fourth Powerball character represents the animal side of the world: a monkey in polka-dot underwear.🐒 Still under construction – his movement is a bit stiff, and the arm looks odd while walking. ✨ Any tips for improvement? #gamedev #indiedev #blender3d

The third Powerball character is Zeya310a. Born from an experiment to create the perfect athlete, she didn’t gain size or strength… but unmatched precision. She may not be the biggest, but she’s one of the most dangerous. Do you prefer small or big characters? 🤔 #gamedev #indiedev #blender3d
