“You are a hag!” The demon says with a strange amount of delight. She holds out a paw in front of Sallow’s head. “You are in the presence of the demon Tsul’rekshi. How can we help each other?”

“Tsul’rekshi,” Sallow says. Several parts of the name extend into hisses. The hag takes the demon’s paw in her hand, wrinkled fingertips feeling the texture of leathery paw pads. A claw pops out of the toe when it reflexively curls. Cute.

Aymeric deserves comfort after all he’s been through. He deserves a moment of peace, held by hands that don’t want to hurt him, after his courage (stupid as it may have been) got him punished. Maybe he and Estinien are consoling each other.

That year, they had approved him to take some advanced classes, and the young lord spent his modicum of peace studying without having to worry about household duties or little brothers. It did not sound quite like paradise to Stephanivien. The blond had made it his own duty to make sure that, after a token amount of time to study for the difficult course, there was a little bit of sunlight in his life.

By the time Steph arrived, Artoirel had fallen asleep on his book. It wasn’t the first time that had happened, and Steph knew that walking loudly and waking him suddenly would not go well. Steph instead carefully took a seat just to the side of him and began peeling the orange he brought for lunch.
