We did "Red-teaming policy", targeting the Anonymization Guideline of EDPB, with CS/legal scholars and regulators/international organizations. Great fun, and enlightening to identify vulns in regulation, and design exploits. Thanks heaps @hodthoughts.bsky.social! More: ps.tm.kit.edu/english/1094...

Graduation day at @kit.edu and together with a bunch of other great graduates from our group Annika got the KIT part of her double degree - and won the price for the best thesis of the last year! Very much deserved, a huge congratulations from the entire chair (and the INRIA team, too, we're sure)!

😂 USENIX 🤣 giving 3 minute (in words: three minute) slots to full papers for presentation, now 🥸 Makes you wonder why anybody would still go to conferences in the first place, anymore 🥳

This week, our Abhi is at AsiaCCS where he'll present the paper he wrote at Inria with Mathieu and Héber, tomorrow. They show that current approaches to anonymization of trajectories fail utterly when faced by strategic adversaries. Don't miss out if you're in Bangalore, it's impressive work!

🇪🇸 With flying colors! 🇩🇪 No one knowing Patricia doubted this outcome - but it's still a special moment to see students become colleagues, graduating with distinction! Her work on DP covers foundations to real-world impact, presented everywhere from top scientific venues to science slam competitions!

Highest performance, not only at academic tasks 🥸 Our Privacy group finishers (save Islam, our highest performer who went missing after) of Badische Meile! While @kit.edu sent the most runners in total the @kastel-labs.bsky.social was clearly the largest KIT institute (20 speedy scientists!) 😎

Islam's first SoK paper “Multi‑Perspective Video Anonymization” was just accepted at PETS 2026, the top venue for privacy tech in Calgary 🎉. Huge kudos for mapping out where video anonymization stands today--and what’s still missing for real multi‑camera setups. @kastel-labs.bsky.social at work 😎

💥The year starts with great news:💥 🍾Àlex' paper accepted at USENIX Sec🎉 He demonstrates how suppression (and: sampling as one special case) may amplify privacy but yields disproportionate utility loss. It's been hard work: 🚀per aspera ad astra🌟 Congrats, we're proud! arxiv.org/abs/2601.05180

From gait and gaze to WiFi signals and XR avatars-our bodies reveal far more than we think. I shared empirical results showing how easy it is to re-identify individuals in so-called “anonymized” datasets, even when advanced techniques like federated learning or differential privacy are applied.
