We've missed a trick not making Alan Partirdge the UK's poet Laureate. Blommin' Armitiage.

Swaddled in coats, but not too big. Replete in jumper, chunky socks. My hair grows longer now. Warm strands of my lower hair, to keep warm my neck. Heck! It's cold. But now winter comes, and Autumn Leaves. Alan Partridge

And yet it is not bleak like the midwinter It is not unforgiving. So let us stay a while here. Replete in the clemency of autumn.

How melancholic, the brown sludge of fallen autumn leaves Gone, the crunch underfoot, Now the squelch of rain-sodden brown, How sad, how triste, this season 'twixt summer, not yet winter.

Autumn Leaves How sad, the falling of leaves of autumn. How melancholic, the passing autumn, half 'twixt summer and winter.

Today I have correctly used the words inveigle and incipient and I don't own alphabetic toilet paper. I'm quietly proud.

Did I post that I've now branched out into buying Canadian booze to go with baying Canadian Maple Syrup? Well I have. Canadian Club Whisky - not your best, but the one I've heard of. I think Don Draper may have drank some. Next will be a smooth whisky with no bite (and incipient alcoholism)

*doffs cap* That must take such moxie - and that must stand folk in such good stead in the rat race. That sentence reads poorly.

I learnt tonight about a person that has blagged their way to an interesting and remunerative career by lying. I would never lie on my CV as a youth. I was too afraid. This guy made up qualifications he knew no one could check as the university switched to digital. Even that sounds made up!

I feel bad for young folk. I'm jealous of their youth, yes, but I feel we've let them down with the world we're leaving them. I did my bit. I've voted the right way (to keep our rights), I've volunteered, recycled, signed petitions, marched and yet the bloomin' house sparrow is on the red list.

Been into the city. Go at least every two years - so sad to see virtually empty pubs and restuarants. The young people don't want to go to pubs like we did back in the 90s. I thought the toilets in one of the old pubs were wonderful. Fantastic tiling from yesteryear and v clean. Ten on ten.

Seeing as I'm waffling about chickens - mine get bunches of perpetual spinach and chard leaves daily and overgrown courgettes . I hang up the 'marrows' and the hens hollow them out brilliantly. They get the proper layers pellets too. That's their main feed. Miner's lettuce over winter.

Some poultry keepers don't feel the need to be as tidy (and I'm by no means fastidious) yet you ought to clean up their ground every so often or it can become 'fowl sick'. My chickens are sleeping on top of their coop annoyingly, I'd much rather they slept inside it. I can't stop them.

Chickens have a fast digestive system and can produce a poo every 20 - 30 minutes meaning up between 30 to 50 droppings a day. I've recently got a few chickens again and I'm amazed at how much I'm clearing up. Good for the compost.

Great news for wildlife near Eccleshall 🌿 Thanks to a generous legacy gift, Jackson's Coppice and Marsh Nature Reserve has doubled in size. This means more space for wildlife, more space for water, and longer walks for people to enjoy. 💚 More here: orlo.uk/AtGKE

Fox shouldn't be bullied obviously, by anyone, yet she failed to live up to what she promised... but then they always will won't they? She know knows what Reform are though, so I guess she won't be supporting them again. Maybe she'll try yet another party? I hope not.

Stuart @stringerbelly.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
Councillor Fox was previously a Conservative parish councillor - yet she lost that position for non-attendance. She campaigned on the usual woolly Reform nonsense - about net zero and the climate emergency - she helped rescind Durham's declaration of a climate emergency and lost grant funds.

Councillor Lyndsey Fox just resigned from Reform saying she was scared, because Reform are bullying her and others. But wait... didn't she campaign on Reform's stance on immigrants?

I have bought seven new chickens and I have spent all day improving their security. I have cut my hands to pieces doing so again. They wouldn't come out of the coop. I would pluck one out, show it where the water and food is, and pop it back in. I hope the fox doesn't get them.
