from a review of SUX: "it clicked for me like nothing else has in the genre for the last two decades or so" "Extreme sports games haven't challenged me in over two decades now and it was refreshing (and a wake up call) to have one that did force me to teach myself the mechanics of a new game."

Review of SUX from player cheddahz on backlogged

This can easily be described (and has been) as "PS1 era Tony Hawk Pro Skater, but with unicycles", but it's so much more than that. It's also taking elements of the Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX with the way you control the unicycle, which adds a degree of challenge to it if your brain is wired like mine from playing so much THPS in your lifetime. My first run of this took forever because I absolutely sucked at it, but I felt how much I was improving with later runs, with my last few playthroughs of the career mode taking less than ten minutes. Extreme sports games haven't challenged me for over two decades now and it was refreshing (and a wake up call) to have one that did force me to teach myself the mechanics of a new game.

You can tell this game was made with a lot of love, from the messages you get about certain locations in levels and the credits literally thanking everyone who helped with developing this and inspiring certain elements (both personally and famous people, like Tony Hawk himself). The soundtrack in this kicks ass too and I discovered a bunch of new stuff I hadn't heard before, but it wouldn't had felt out of place from DIY shows that I hit up locally (shout out to drive your plow over the bones of the dead, I bought a copy of their album right after I heard their song spirit incantation in this).

This was just an amazing time that unlocked something for me that I've been searching for since I got addicted to extreme sports video games and I'm stoked to see how daffodil keeps on improving on the formula, because I'll be there to support no matter what

Basically this was really really awesome and i love my community so much. I got to throw a video game launch party in an old auto body shop that is now a skatepark, with local band @numb-dame-band.bsky.social, with support from Antisocial Skateshop, 2 Nintendo switches, yummy food, and so much love!

Got to attend @daff.space's street uni x launch party today and it rocked. Got to skateboard for hours, listen to a local punk band, and see the indie dev scene mingle with the skateboard community I've been hanging with lately. 10/10 event.

The thing about making a game about a burgeoning sport is people end up doing all kinds of new tricks throughout development and it's hard to keep up anyway look out for more new tricks when STREET UNi X drops on switch (alongside the sweeping update for the PC version coming soon)
