I've seen very few James Bond movies, and I'm trying to fix that. Watched the first 3 Connery films the last couple of days (all childhood favorites of mine), and I think FRWL has finally passed Goldfinger for me.

I'm about 50 pages into John le Carré's The Spy Who Came In From The Cold, and it's just impossible to put down. It's so incredibly paced.

Reading Green Lantern for the first time in years, and it hit me just how similar it is to Ultraman. Especially Hal's origin. Strange Alien crashes on earth, passes his power on to a human, bringing him into a galactic police force.

For National Comic Book Day: the first 4 comics I remember reading. I grew up on Chuck Dixon era Robin back issues, and I still remember walking into the shop and seeing Captain America #34 when it came out. I would have been 6.

Checked back in with Wonders of Sodor after a bit of time away, and I was very happy to see the new LBSC Thomas livery as well as a vastly improved menu system. It's great that we're getting Henry and Toby in the near future as well. One of my favorite games of 2026.

Coltrane would have been 100 today, and it's hard not to think about what he could have done had his life not been cut so short. Thankfully, he left us with countless classic albums. Here are my 4 favorites:

Rolled credits on Halo Reach, this has always been and probably always will be my favorite Halo game. It's impossible for me to look past the memories of playing this game with my friends in elementary school, talking about our favorite Noble Team members at lunch, etc.

Beat Halo 3: ODST today, and this game is pretty phenomenal. The way the setup and gameplay weave together into a military sci-fi/noir mystery works together so well. As someone who loves the exploratory nature of CE, I loved the Rookie sections of walking around New Mombasa at night.

The new album by The Tubs out today is a must listen. Really great record.

A couple days late for the anniversary, but I want to talk about my favorite part of Star Trek, the original 6 films. In the discussion of legacy sequels, I think they are the absolute top tier. They do such a fantastic job of reflecting the original show while introducing new themes into the story.

I really like how the OoT remake feels close to the original character models. Link and the NPCs still feel like Ocarina of Time. Good shit.

Rolled credits on Halo 3. Great game. The ending still feels impactful almost 20 years later. It does make me think about their decision to bring Chief back in 2012. I feel like letting him rest for a bit longer could have done the series some good.

I've got 3 missions left in Halo 3, and I'd say I like it more than Halo 2. There're a couple of encounters that I found annoying. The first scarab kept landing on obstacles in the terrain, making it obnoxious to try and jump in, but overall, I really love the levels.

StreakyRichard @streakyrichard.bsky.social · 05/09/2026

Just finished up Halo 2, and it was really fun! I do prefer CE overall, but this game does surpass it in level variety and having a character to put some emotional weight on in The Arbiter.

Worst part of living in Japan is being at risk of hearing the band Mrs. Green Apple at any given moment. What are the kids listening to, man. Horrific shit.

Started Halo 2 for the first time, and I'm digging it. I kind of miss the exploratory feel of CE so far, but it's fun. I'm really excited to see where the story goes, especially with The Arbiter.

Main campaign is finished! I think this is a great game. All I want to do is keep playing more Halo.

As someone who thinks Days of Thunder is vastly better than OG Top Gun but also thinks TGM is one of the best movies ever, I am extremely excited for this.

Playing through Halo: Campaign Evolved on PS5, and I'm having a real blast. As someone who hasn't played a "new" Halo since Halo 4, it just feels good to be playing a new release. I really hope Halo Studios are able to keep it up and either deliver a good original game or a Halo 2 remake next.

Other than when Episode I got re-released back in 2024 for its 25th anniversary, I haven't watched any of the Star Wars movies since the lead up to episode IX. Decided it was time to rewatch the series. This is the most fun I've ever had watching episode IV. What a good movie.

Finished up ALttP this afternoon. Very fun game. It's really cool to see how Nintendo took the bones of the first Zelda game and really mastered the gameplay loop here. Probably the most gorgeous SNES game.

Currently reading through Between Two Fires by Christopher Buehlman, and it's fantastic. If you want a novel that is essentially Berserk set in our world during the black death, this is for you. It is thematically in line with Lost Children/Conviction, which is the best part of that series.

Dr. Gavin Davis is making some of the best videos on YouTube at the moment. Absolutely loved his most recent video analyzing a very short yet very interesting passage in Beowulf. I have no desire to return to school, but great educators like him make me miss it. m.youtube.com/watch?v=pZx1...

Been playing through A Link To The Past this week, and it's such a solid game. Not the best 2D Zelda IMO, I prefer A Link's Awakening, but it's a great adventure game.

I choose to believe that Legolas genuinely thought that the hobbits grew wings and that if he tried hard enough, he could grow wings as well.

"I go to find the Sun!" I love book Legolas. There's so much humor and whimsy that comes through his character in the book. He really comes to life through the page. I love movie Legolas as well, but they are totally different characters.

Wrapped up reading Fellowship of the Ring last night. My first ever fully attentive read through of the book (got to Elrond in 8th grade, had to read it quickly in my fantasy lit class in college), some quick thoughts:

The Odyssey coming to Japan in September (almost an entire month later than even China and Korea) is the most annoyed I have been at a film release date delay. My family back home is seeing it. My friend who has maybe seen 15 movies total is seeing it. I have to wait almost 2 months.

StreakyRichard @streakyrichard.bsky.social · 09/07/2026

"Tell me, who are you, alone, yourself, and nameless?" I'm currently in the middle of the Tom Bombadil stuff in Fellowship, and it's really hitting for me in ways it hadn't on previous reads. This passage is incredible.

Rewatched Toy Story for the first time in ages, and gun to my head, this is a top 5 film ever. The time between Woody lighting the fuse and him and Buzz falling in Andy's box is like 90 seconds flat. It's probably the best 90 second stretch of filmmaking ever.

Was working on a Dragon Ball related project today and thought about this old DBZ tape my older brothers had. I never watched this tape, but that image of Gohan burned itself into my 3 or 4 year old brain. That's the power of art right there.

As many times as I've seen Fellowship and RotK, this was probably only the 2nd time I've seen The Two Towers, and man this is just a perfect film.

Both when reading through Fellowship recently and watching the film, Gandalf's response to Frodo really stuck out to me more than it had in the past.

Finished watching Fellowship this afternoon, and Boromir's turn and redemption is so emotionally moving no matter how many times I see it. Sean Bean gives the best performance of the film alongside Ian McKellen in my opinion.

Currently watching Fellowship of the Ring with my wife who has no prior knowledge of what Lord of the Rings is other than the fact that it's something I really enjoy. We've watched through the Council of Elrond, and it is genuinely amazing how well this movie is paced. That hour and a half FLIES by.

I finally finished watching The Hobbit Trilogy after doing a re-read of the book, and I do like BotFA more than I did when I was 13. Nothing really happens, it's mostly just fighting for 2 and half hours. But what character moments are here keep me engaged.

I think Masters of the Universe is kind of fucking great. Very insane like you want from He-Man. Idris Elba was fantastic. I really loved the whole cast. I highly recommend going to see it.

000

StreakyRichard @streakyrichard.bsky.social · 06/06/2026

Going to go see Masters of the Universe today based almost solely on the fact that one of my favorite toys growing up was my hand-me-down battle armor Skeletor from my uncle. One of the coolest toys ever.
