I recognize that I've accomplished a lot of amazing things over the years! But that doesn't take away from the fact I've been disabled since birth. It doesn't take away from the fact I am very disabled now and I struggle a lot. Don't minimize my experience.

People often forget I'm disabled because I'm Black. This is a serious issue for me. Often even other disabled people don't count me as disabled. Nor do they give me the grace or understanding that THEY expect for themselves. They make me out to be "special" or "different" and that's dehumanizing.
