Next day someone from the machine building company where his son works arrives bearing terrible news.

I once had a “chilli con carne” in a restaurant that was mostly chickpeas and cut up hotdogs and that experience has stayed with me, not at all because I enjoyed eating it, but also no to make fun of it, but because there was something genuinely magical and beautiful about it.

There’s something wonderful about bad food. Not unhealthy food, but food that’s just kind of crappy, like a sandwich with a piece of bland cheese and maybe pieces of corn. This has nothing to do with irony. It’s authentically human and even though it’s bad, we are very lucky to have it.

One big music scene I don’t see getting much attention is Warner Music Group. Lots of really professional artists who make music in all different styles, but what unites them is they’re basically all part of Warner Music Group. So that’s pretty cool.

People love to go on about Brian Eno, but here’s the thing: airports have been around since the early 20th century. Sure, he may have helped popularize them, especially among music fans, but he did not come up with the idea himself. He wasn’t even born when the first airport was built!

If someone produces a tractor and someone else produces a dub techno track I don’t think we should view the tractor dismissively because it’s “not art”. Both of those things, if used correctly, benefit society, so should really be understood as the same genre.

There were elements that I liked in parts of the first LCD soundsystem album and if they’d gone forward by replacing the singer with someone doing some cool French sprechgesang or, better still, shouting frankieteardroply in a made-up language, I honestly believe they could have been pretty good.
