Letterboxd might get sold, but your film history shouldn't depend on who owns the app. I built Voola, where you can import your entire Letterboxd library, reviews and all, plus TV show tracking and Shazam-style identification from a single clip. Available now: voola.io
Voola profile screen on an iPhone against a purple-and-blue gradient. Sulama Traore's profile shows a Premium User badge and three stat rings: 564 watched, 527 reviewed, and a 3.5 average score. Below are My Library and My Taste buttons, a prompt to leave a review for Love Island USA, and a Recently Added row with posters including The Odyssey.Voola library screen on an iPhone with an Import menu open, listing Letterboxd, Trakt, and TV Time as one-tap import sources. Behind the menu, collections show 823 saved and 564 watched titles in all, including 695 saved and 554 watched films, with posters like Toy Story 5 and Creed visible.

TV Time shuts down on July 15. The good news: I made an alternative and it's called Voola. Grab your data at gdpr.tvtime.com and drop it into Voola. Voola can also identify movies and shows from just a video clip or link. Available now: voola.io
Screenshot of the Voola app on iPhone, showing the My Library screen with an open Import menu. The menu lists three import sources: Letterboxd, Trakt, and TV Time. Behind it, the library displays collections of poster thumbnails — 820 saved titles, 564 watched titles, 692 saved films, and 554 watched films.Screenshot of the Voola app on iPhone, showing an "Import from TV Time" dialog. It gives three steps: open gdpr.tvtime.com in a browser and sign in with your TV Time account, request a copy of your data and download the export, then select the downloaded ZIP or CSV. A note below reads that TV Time shuts down July 15, 2026, so export your data before then. A yellow "Select File" button sits at the bottom, with Cancel underneath.

Voola 5 is simultaneously the most beautiful UX I have ever designed and the best designed app I have on my phone. Still refuse to add a tab bar for good reason.

The new "My Taste" feature on Voola 5 is by far my favorite feature. As someone who loves watching movies and shows and wants a better understanding of my habits, being able to see it so clean is awesome.
Two iPhones resting on a stack of warm-toned clay bricks lit in soft amber light. The left phone displays Voola's "My Taste" screen: a "Your Taste Profile" card headed "Kinetic Legacy Epicist" with the tagline "Where visceral action meets profound emotional resonance and the weight of legacy," above a "By the Numbers" grid of colorful stat rings showing 1,109 hours watched, 659 movies / 101 shows, 23 genres explored, and three more figures. The right phone shows Voola's new profile screen for @jacke (Jackie Evans), a Premium User, with circular stats for 560 watched, 542 reviewed, and a 3.6 average score, "My Library" and "My Taste" buttons, a "Leave a Review" prompt, and a "Recently Added" row of show posters.

Getting better at this public speaking + pitch thing. Still learning but came a LONG WAY from where I used to be.
A man with a beard in a black polo shirt speaks into a handheld microphone, gesturing with one hand as he presents. Behind him is a backdrop of oversized decorative fabric flowers in cream, white, and pink, lit warmly against a dark room, with a piano partly visible to his left and neon signage glowing above.

Tech Week in NYC was one of the best weeks of my life. Attended events relevant to what I’m building with Voola, connected with friends, and met so many founders, devs, investors, and people across tech. Left inspired, grateful, and motivated. Back to building.

Aside from the Knicks shenanigans, yesterday was a classy affair.

I built Voola on the belief that clips on social media are now the dominant way people discover movies & TV, and there's a need to easily identify them. In the last 8 weeks: > Disney+ launched Verts > Netflix launched Clips > Prime launched Clips Platforms are realizing this.
A promotional graphic for Disney+ Verts, the platform's new vertical short-form video feature. Five iPhones float against a teal background, each showing a different vertical clip from Disney+ content, including Zootopia 2, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Tell Me Lies, and Andor. The bottom navigation bar on each phone shows a new "Verts" tab between Search and Downloads, marked by a play-card icon. Centered text reads "Start swiping with Verts" next to the Verts icon.Screenshots of Netflix's new Clips feature, a TikTok-style vertical video feed inside the Netflix mobile app. The main screen shows a Bridgerton clip with the show's title, tags reading Period Piece, Notable Soundtrack, and Keeping Secrets, and a synopsis underneath. The bottom navigation has tabs for Home, Clips, Search, and My Netflix. Smaller previews show additional Clips from Reacher, Squid Game, and other Netflix titles, each with mute, save, and share controls.Screenshots from Prime Video showing the new vertical short-form Clips feed inside the mobile app, including content from add-on channels like HBO Max. The interface displays a "Clips" section with full-screen vertical scenes from The Boys and an NBA highlight, alongside Continue Watching, Popular TV, and Trending Now rows. Other panels show The Last of Us via the HBO Max add-on and a player view of "The Merchants of Joy" with category tabs for For You, News, Sports, Reality, Crime, and TV.

Very honored and humbled to have not one, but two articles written about Voola recently. Only up from here Inshallah.
Android Police article header on Yahoo Tech titled "I finally found the Shazam app for movies, and I'll never miss titles again" by Irene Okpanachi, published Thursday, May 7, 2026 at 6:00 AM EDT. Below the headline is a stylized hero illustration on a purple background featuring the Voola app icon — a glossy "V" with sparkles — surrounded by floating tiles showing scenes from movies and TV shows, including a couple dancing in formalwear (the woman in a yellow dress) and a man in a tan suit playing guitar. A large white circular button with a magnifying glass icon sits in the foreground, with a film clapperboard and film strip drifting around the composition. Image credit: Lucas Gouveia / Android Police.Article header from Italian tech site telefonino.net titled "Voola è lo 'Shazam dei film': l'app Android che riconosce serie TV e film da una semplice clip video" ("Voola is the 'Shazam of movies': the Android app that recognizes TV series and films from a simple video clip"), by Andrea Lombardo, published 7 May 2026. The hero image shows a hand holding an iPhone against a purple-to-pink gradient background. The phone screen displays the Voola app's Find screen with a circular search button featuring a magnifying glass icon, and below it an "Explore — Discover your next favorite" section showing a tile for the show Hijack. The site's top navigation bar shows trending topics including OPPO Find X9 Ultra, realme 16 Pro+, Nothing Phone 4a Pro, and Pixel.

The text reads: "Human-to-human transmission requires 'prolonged close contact,' she said, adding that 'this is not a pandemic kind of virus.' 'That also raises the question of whether multiple passengers were exposed to the same contaminated environment, which would mean some of the cases may not be person-to-person spread at all,' Gounder said. She emphasized that hantavirus remains rare, with fewer than 900 cases over 30 years in the U.S." The phrase "fewer than 900 cases" is underlined.

BEYOND honored to have taken part in the 2026 Black Is Tech Pitch Competition in Houston. Voola made the top 5 out of 200+ submissions and 18 finalists, ahead of founders from MIT, Yale, YC, and Imperial College London. It was my FIRST pitch ever. Can't wait for what's ahead.

He stands in a light blue suit beside four empty grey lounge chairs, with the conference's "black is tech 2026 Conference" backdrop and "ion + Powered by Rice" signage behind him. Ever see a clip on social media but it has no title? Or you’re sitting at the bar and you want to know what is playing on the TVs. I made an app called Voola, the “Shazam for Movies and TV Shows”. NOTHING is as Simple, Accurate or Elegant. Available NOW on iOS & Android.

“Hey Sulu, I came across Voola recently and wanted to reach out, I’m building essentially the same thing called [name redacted/obscured], and I think what you’ve put together is really cool so far. I’d love to swap notes on what you’re seeing, what’s working, and where things get hard. No agenda beyond that, just think it’s rare to find other founders thinking deeply about this problem, and conversations like that tend to be valuable for both sides. Would you be open to a quick chat sometime?“

Unfortunately for them, we aren't in the same stratosphere let alone league. Voola keeps getting better, is more attentive to user needs, and is the clear market leader in visual media discovery. Foot on necks all year.

Clones of my app Voola have been popping up. While most founders would be upset, I'm not. It means my direction is right. They saw the market potential and MY product and attempted to copy. But they are missing my unique vision + execution skills. Imitation is confirmation.
