Actually the second has gone through a few different variations of the general "ithakan commoner murders noble" concept but that's what i have right now

they're "former separatist phaeron made into a subordinate lord of the sautekh when imotekh started conquering neighboring dynasties" and "ithakan soldier who on the day of biotransference murders the nemesor she formerly served under to deny him immortality"

I do also have women necron ocs but their stories (such as they are everything's mostly just vague concepts) are deeply mired in like, struggles against/within patriarchy, I have in fact thougjt about it for them

i hadn't thought about them very deeply gender-wise yet on any level other than just, all my characters are nonbinary unless they're women. But I should. There are implications here probably

"heir of a never-going-to-awaken overlord dodging all responsibilities of their inheritance" and "apprentek controlled by their cryptek master with very little free will but complete awareness" are on very opposite sides of some spectrum of autonomy and self-determination

wait now i'm feeling compelled to rework my they/them necron ocs

it makes me feel a little like a lovecraft protagonist undergoing eldritch madness. Or something.

exactly exactly!! there's Also, from the akh-weynis-wenm-netr flashback scene, they/them phaeron lyssahk... I am probably the only person to have ever thought about this character but i'm kind of always thinking about them

borakka and am-heht are interesting to me in this sort of regard too. There's a lot swirling around in my brain none of it is really coherent or fully fleshed out but i would love to hear more of your thoughts...!!!

i'm basically always thinking about this sort of thing. in my head at least it's all rank & class... a ruler can do whatever they want, their will is reality, hekatic truth & all, but with anyone else it's like. I think a lot about how in the treaty flashback oltyx calls obyron 'it'

THOUGH with that it wasn't out of complete lack of interest or not liking his character or whatever. i think it was mostly that i get kind of weird about writing characters that remind me of my dad LOL

this doesn't just happen with oc stuff. in years past i had a tdk fic that i was like, making decent progress on planning & writing random little scraps, but then i realized it'd work best if it was in large part about unnas and i totally lost steam on it

my other problem is that i have a terrible gender bias when it comes to writing and i keep ending up in situations where some Guy That Sucks is vital to whatever i'm trying to develop, and thematically they kind of have to be men, but i just... kind of don't care enough about them...

my main problem is that i'm really terrible at committing to things . And expanding on existing worldbuilding/making up anything new on my own. pre-biotransference ithakas is constantly bouncing around my head like a dvd screensaver but it's not really getting me anywhere
