I worked at two different McDonalds before I was 20 and glad I did. It is shockingly impressive how deep they had thought about every. single. thing. There were a dozen different cleaning products for different tasks. And each was called McSomething.

It’s been 30 years but I’m pretty sure that was the fryer I used working at McDonalds. You put the basket in the oil, push a button, it would beep, you pulled it. A countdown started. You put it back in the oil, you pushed another button. Then beep, pull, bounce the basket, dump and salt.

No worries. Just curious. I've tried both mRNA and just learned to not having anything scheduled for two days. My wife on the other hand feels crappy for about 6 hours.

The table in question.
Small table in a corner with a puzzle on it. There are way too many house plants.

"Quarantine table" During lock-down we bought a small table where we could leave puzzles up, boardgames out, etc. Been up since 2020 and I'd wager my kids will have their own quarantine table when they start families.

Yup. I was a tall, skinny, kid that did debate, theater, academic team, collected comic books, played Vampire and GURPS. I almost always had a girl friend.

In high school, I had a girl over and she turned on the TV in my room. It was tuned to C-SPAN. Quickly stammered out that I also watch a lot of KET (local PBS station) and the SciFi Channel (SyFy is stupid). She had tears in her eyes from laughing so hard. Did get to third base later though.

One of the more esoteric ways of summoning a ghost for spooky season.

And it’s important to remember that. My GURPS game is with my kids. 1st time ever GMing with all three and my wife. Oldest (28) has DMed all of them for the past two years. I’ve set back and been happy the hobby took hold and made snacks. Things can be better. They can get better. They have before.

But on the other hand, it’s hard to get across the level of bigotry some characters would have experienced in 1936

If you mean the ones that screen calls, do they actually work? I have my doubts as the one baked into iOS barely contains them. If you mean a virtual number, I’ve tried that in the past and they wouldn’t work with banks. It’s so frustrating.

I am seriously thinking I might change my number and never giving it to anyone I don’t know personally. Of course I would then have to have a second number for two-factor authentication, sites that require you to give one, etc.

I struggle with this take. Yes, they were low for a long time. Like 5 or 6%. And then in 2008, we took them lower. But, silicone valley today only exists because of those basically 0% loans for almost two decades.

My daughter made a short film where I was the central focus and hundreds of people judged me this weekend It’s an awesome film. But damn. Someone asked her at the showing “Are you able to have a relationship with your father today?” Shit, just saying, making shit is good. Even when you’re old.

I’ve learned from @brooklynmarie.bsky.social that screaming into the void in the best way you know how is productive.
Stupid handwritten note. Black ink, on white paper, against a wooden table background.

Buddy is dying soon.
But so is my father.
And my Mother
Everyone knows it. Or at least they should.
Hurray!! Seriously.
Because you ain't dead yat. You’re reading this.
Lots of contractions.
Poo poo be doo. I don’t want to think about that.
I'm talking to you.
Contraction’s are one of the future’s gifts and curses.
We learned how to smash words together so they are easier to read
Makes communication easier
Also removes words
Buddy is dying soon
But so is my father
And my Mother
Everyone knows it. Or at least they should.

When the kids were younger and in lots of extra-curricular activities, the vast majority communicated via Facebook. When I would tell the coach or whatever that I don’t have a Facebook account they would look at me in genuine confusion. Couldn’t comprehend such a thing. Complete bafflement.

I was just having my coffee when I thought, “That looks like a hat.” And then Jesus lead the way.
A photograph of six figurines wearing an acorn cap as a hat (Amy Pond from Doctor Who, Wormtongue from LOTR, Jesus from the Bible, Miguel from Coco, a D&D character (badly painted) and a Stormtrooper from Star Wars.)

There are also two acorns with their caps and faces drawn on them. They are resting inside other acorn caps.

I never thought I’d buy a new vehicle but I want to support the concept with my wallet. My biggest concern is that I’m 6’4” but I drove a ‘65 VW and a Pontiac Vibe for years, so not too worried.

100% However, for trips ≥ 1000 miles (in-laws in South Dakota) we usually rent a car. With deals, typically less than $200 and not putting the miles on our vehicles.

If the 20th century has taught me nothing, it is that history can occasionally move really fast. And with age comes perspective but also.. where did I set my readers?
