That might have been true back in the Mark Emmert days, but not so much now, I think. Especially at academically focused institutions. I see academic departments scratching and clawing just to maintain their budgets, especially in this environment, while football programs get money thrown at them.

My team and its ranking in this article are mid-tier. Given the school's core mission is to educate students, I'm not sure I want them to spend more to move up. We have a semi-pro football team with a university as its largest sponsor. How exactly does that support the school's mission?

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have overcome my conservative (now MAGA) roots had I not gone to a liberal university. A big part of my evolution was many dorm conversations that included strong women from other parts of the country, who in turn were greatly influenced by Gloria Steinem.

Tidal user here. I dropped Spotify a couple of years ago, partly because it pays artists more, and never looked back. There are playlist conversion apps that port from one to the other so the conversion was pretty seamless.

Also just read that early-mid 20th century American cooking was heavily influenced by New England and British traditions, which emphasized tasting the 'purity' of the primary ingredient. Heavily seasoned food was culturally dismissed or viewed with suspicion.
