Like, where’s the line between an Actual Play with high improv and loose TTRPG rules and a lot of Costuming and a Living History exhibit that’s being semi-coordinated and filmed? Can’t wait to see what answers bubble up :O

I wonder how LARP/Living History/Re-enactment fit into this. Growing up, I used to do live Tudor re-enactment in a variety of roles (shout out page boys in the big house), where we’d both improv perform for ourselves, but also in front of paying visitors, and we’d also answer questions.

That's huge! Is it a temporary pop up or are you venturing into the TTRPG/BG store business? I've a few books and bobs, but if you're ever needing a variety of stuff @shop.peregrinecoast.press is flush with 'em!

That said, it's got what looks like loads of different titles on there, and it's browser based. Easy to be a critic when I couldn't code my way towards make a centred table if I tried!

Yeah, I'd not really dabbled in boardgame VTTs and just gave it a try. It is a LOT fancier than my previous dive in with screentop.gg, but the pseudo-3D did trip me a bit, especially the way it likes to start groups (like cards, tiles, etc) together, but they irrevocably separate in weird ways.

Colour conversion might be because your files are set up in CMYK? That's usually what my bug is. Some online engines can render a CMYK file normally, others can't

Google's core useful features (like quick exchange rates, definitions, maps, etc) are breaking more and more as they try to shove AI in. It's wild that such a universally useful and convenient tool is being torn apart in the pursuit of another global recession.
Screenshot of google search "usd to gbp exchange rate". There are no search results being returned by google; the whole page is broken.

The idea of outsourcing talking to her about the campaigns I was running, or comparing builds for Diablo II, or watching Spirited Away for the 11,000,000th time, is awful. Without her memories, or her mutual joy, or her presence, or her opinions and judgements, what would have been the point?

My mum worked in tech in the 90s through 10s, and had to commute 2hrs in and out of London during the height of it. On top of that she had to raise two autistic queer kids pretty much solo. Me and my sibling bonded with her through shared hobbies; for me it was D&D and games, for my brother, comics.

I went to a fab talk by Avery Alder where she said (to paraphrase) that the rules you write in the Book are the rehearsed summaries you've repeated to new players over and over at the table, which I found helpful for framing the "run the game, write the book" tack.

Somehow every inch we crawl out from cramped bedrooms and kitchen tables and hundreds of unpaid hours greased with favours and in-kind sweat reveals another tide of bullshit fees. Might as well slap a bed in a warehouse and call it a WFH write-off, for all the evils big businesses get away with.

Really had my eyes opened on Business Rates this year- you pay BR on the value of the property you’re renting out (like council tax). If your rateable value is <£12,500, you get a full small business exemption. Above £15k, you pay 0.432x of the RV a year. This is a nuts jump in monthly outgoings

A drawing of a hot air balloon above overgrown ruins. A group of sailors is looking at birds through telescopes.A drawing of some items: A diamond ring with a snake design - a flint knife wrapped with string - a gold chain with small gold bees - two clay toy dog figurines - a cup shaped like the head of a horse or donkey - a horse shaped candle holder - two crab apples - a votive loaf of bread (shaped like a hand) on a plate, with a bowl of salt and a lit candle.Three small drawings: One of a shrine under a pine tree with a stone inside, one of a salamander on the forest floor, one of a coastal path with stone steps, two tall trees, stone columns and two hikers in the distance. The overall feel is very late summer to early autumn.A drawing of some things you might find in a kitchen: a tea towel, a bundle of herbs (parsley, thyme, sage, bay), two wooden spoons, some butcher's twine, a cutting board, a big knife, a candle stub on a little plate, a ceramic jar, some cardamom pods, a garlic bulb (bisected).

Good answer: Either would work! I like to think of it as an encyclopaedia trying to put archaeology in the hands of people to play with, with lots of researched and evidenced information. There's RPG/storytelling support throughout, too Chaotic answer: Cut it in half and split it across both places

For every lovely repost or review, there are five more filled with personal grudges, death threats or motivated by bigoted hate. It's intimidating to create anything because the internet can feel like such a vitriolic cesspit. It's even harder to wade through it when without a team behind you.

More than this, even. Facts don't come out of nowhere; they are made, and the work of making robust facts is very hard. Historians don't just get primary sources and write down what they say; they have to interpret them. This is where historical facts come from.
