iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

I've been making a big push to be more productive lately, so I've been looking up kanban apps. In the current era though, I'm getting really tired of cloud services and subscriptions, and a lot of the offline kanban apps didn't do what I want. ...so I just made my own from scratch!

Rav, drawn with mouse in paint while at work, 2026

An extremely minimalist, slightly squiggly doodle of Rav; literally just a pair of eyes, big ears, fluffy cheeks and shoulders

To elaborate on the "Default Excluded Tags" thing, I implemented it because, while I primarily use impart to organize my own art, I at least wanted to have the option to organize comms, trades and fanart I've gotten as well, so now I can see all that art side by side with my own if I feel like it :)

I guess this is a good time to say that I have indeed joined art fight this year. I originally considered skipping it, but figured "ah what the hell" and joined anyway. Was thinking if I don't end up drawing anything, I can just join spec later on, but lo and behold, I've already made an attack haha

What's the general consensus on species-as-characters for Art Fight? I'm starting to run out of meaningful characters to make pages for, but I do have lots of open species that I'm really passionate about but for which no specific character exists

Was just exploring around on google street view, and I just happened to stumble upon Michel Bassompierre's "Fragile Giants" in NY and now I'm completely obsessed en.bassompierre.fr/newyork

"Not exactly what I had in mind, but somehow exactly what I wanted" @frengers.toys

A crude-ish pixel art of Lujo, a little devil fellow doing a mean expression. He is surrounded by plumes of smoke, as if a spell had just been cast on him

Another giant devilish fellow, Amor, towering over the viewer. Amor is very dramatically lit, with apocalyptic clouds at sunset behind him. A small crude pixel art of Lujo is in the corner, glaring up at him

This is maybe the most niche thing ever, but I was introduced to the works of Sabin Bălașa by @deviinit.bsky.social the other day, and I Literally Can't Stop Thinking About This Design.

It's become a tradition of sorts that on new years eve, I just open a canvas and draw whatever comes to mind, so here's this I suppose

A strange beast with a long neck and a big smile stares back over their shoulder at the viewer. A streak of shiny gold swirls around them, controlled by a single raised hand which glows a bright blue.

A little me lore: For the past nine years, it's been a little tradition of mine to try draw something out of my comfort zone on Halloween. I just started this year's pic now, but I have no idea if it's gonna come together at all, so for the time being, here's a couple of pics from previous years!

A purely black and red image of two massive beasts slashing into each other with a crazed look in their eyes. A giant LCD timer in the background is counting down from 0:30

A very messy watercolor of a infernal cast-iron beast with a symmetrical head; eyes above and below its jaws. They are enveloped in a very stylized flame with lots of bright yellows, reds and blues

I've been really captivated by the Skate Story trailer that dropped the other day and it's had me thinking. I feel like there's such a fine art to this sort of thing; to pack something so enthralling in only a minute or two. I've been wondering, is there a trailer that you still think about?

Inspiration is so funny to me. This last month, I've had like zero motivation to draw, and then the other day, I misread a sign that says "Tour" as "Taur", and now I want to draw 500 taurs

Eyeless perception ⁽²⁰²⁴⁾

Two guarians, both eyeless, with text next to them that says: "Spirits, able to perceive the world around them via other-worldly means"

An eyeless, anthromorphic fluffy dragon guy with text next to them that says: "Innately, immensely powerful species, capable of astrally projecting their perception, allowing them to see in third person."

Two eyeless, impish summon guys with text next to them that says: "idk they can just see somehow"

Unfortunately, the used laptop fell through, so instead, I'll be doing plan B, which is just biting the bullet and setting up WSL on my tower (which I'll do after I upgrade to W11). I've got a busy next few months in front of me, so it might be a while, but I haven't forgotten about this!!!!

Maybe it's because they're designed around abstract nostalgia, but there's something I find so indescribably comforting and cozy about weirdcore stuff and I always wonder if the feeling is mutual. I'm legit addicted to those "weirdcore images with so-and-so soundtrack" vids

Be sure to accessorize your summons!

A little sequence of my sona (stylized as a facelss little red fluffy dragon dude), adorning a large but ultra simplistic quadrupedal beast with shiny, bright yellow arm bands. The last frame is a full body pic of the beast all happy looking with big yellow bands around their wrists and ankles.

My art fight entries this year! Characters belong to: X: softandferal @cytosprout.bsky.social @catfr1end.bsky.social @trufours.bsky.social (on the left)

A sentient galaxy with planets and stars for eyes gently observes the human from the arecibo message

A six legged raptor with tiny wings leaps in front of a red background

A devious looking beast stares ominously towards the camera with an open smile

The random team button has spoken, I am officially team fossil on art fight! This admittedly changes my plans a bit, but I find it more satisfying to be on the team with less players (substantially less in the case wow), so I'll figure it out!

0161

Arastryx @storyteller.monster · 01/07/2025

Oh god, I was gonna join team crystal on the basis that the majority of my bookmarked characters are all on team fossil, but they just revealed the team numbers and it turns out crystal already has like 20k+ extra players SDLKJFS I may be back to leaving it up to random chance again!

Arastryx @storyteller.monster · 01/07/2025

Since it came up recently, I should clarify that despite what it might look like, I am indeed planning on participating in art fight! I've just made a habit out of getting randomly assigned a team once the event starts. It feels more fun that way!

Other artists: [getting their art fight profiles and character refs ready] Me: what if my characters had that weird ball shaped tail that stantler has

Rav and Vagre with their backs turned towards the camera, both of them sporting perfectly spherical tails that look almost unnatural. Rav looks back somewhat intrigued while Vagre looks much more amused.

Rav: "Well this is weird..."
Vagre with much more stylized, sharper text: "I'd say it looks rather DASHING"

A huge, powerful looking beast with glowing eyes and glowing mouth and dark flowing fur (Voidmaker) looking absolutely shocked at their new perfectly round, stubby tail (which replaced their previously huge, flowing tail). They look genuinely confused.

It honestly makes me so happy that even like a year and a half later, people are still finding the A.I.K.O. magazine ad. Despite how little I've drawn them, I still think about them a lot, and I have so many ideas for them that I absolutely do not have time to work on LOL

Despite just being some wings and a pair of eyes, AIKO are surprisingly expressive!

An inflatable jet with very simplistic wings and simplistic eyes (an A.I.K.O.) looking very surprised at something off screen. They are raising their wings as if something has alerted them

Figured I should mention since it came up this morning, but in case anyone's curious, I'll be getting a used computer at some point this summer that I plan on converting to a Linux box, and once I've got that set up, I'll finally be doing up a Linux build for Impart :)

I setup a few new character pages for Art Fight!

A reference for Corvalus "The Corvid King"; a tall corvid monster fellow. The following notes are shown on the ref:
- Typically has a small army of corvids following him
- Quite the storyteller! (most of the stories are about himself)

There's also a guide on various ways you can draw his wings

A reference for Vagre, "Loreless Beast", an eyeless beast with smooth skin and black teeth. The reference has the following notes
- Usually hunched over (but can be drawn standing upright)
- Feels smooth but very weird (Their whole body is the same consistency so you can pretty much press your hands in and feel their skeleton)
- Stylized mouth (but can totally be drawn with a normal mouth)

A reference for A.I.K.O., an "Autonomous Inflatable Kinetic Observer", a huge plane like entity with very cute eyes. Their ref has the following notes:
- Jet that loves you'
- Communicates with beeps and boops
- Can be safely ridden!
- Eyes are animated!
- (above a picture of them holding a wing up with happy eyes) They are waving at you :)
- Filled with air but also lots of tech! (still kind of heavy)
- Bounces like a seal to move around while grounded (but like in slow motion due to their size)
