A calico is lying face up inside someone’s armpit, showing their mostly-white underside with only vague hints of the orange and tabby colouring around the edges. We see only the top half of the cat and the arm making a frame around her. The cat’s ears are smooshed so only the tip of one can be seen poking out the top of the head at a weird angle. The cat’s eyes are bright green to match the red nose.

I caliby (calico-tabby cat with tabby brown and orange patches on white underside) lies comfortably draped over the yellow and black tiger-striped cushions of a couch in front of a window with white vertical blinds.

My cat Mochi and her hobbies: finding a warm butt to lie on, climbing windows, and story time.
A caliby (orange plus brown tabby mixed into a white base colour) is lounging on its side on the legs and butt of someone lying prone on the floor. The caliby’s eyes are closed and looks to be smiling slightly.A caliby appears to be climbing windows vertically with no leverage and no suction cups. Where exactly is she going? How far up does she think she’ll get?Mochi the caliby appears to listen to a stuffed bear that sits amongst a number of illustrated books, one graphic novel open in front of it, reading aloud and describing the illustrations to her.

Close up of a calico asleep, view of the side of her head, her chin resting on one white forepaw, which itself is resting on one white hind paw, with the tip of her other forepaw can be seen between. The tip of her tail is seen coming out from under her. The image only shows the part of her wrapped near her head. Her eyes are closed and her mouth seems to curl up in a small smile. Though she seems to be sleeping, her top ear looks very alert.

same but worse for me. I’m lying on my stomach and the cat is asleep on the backs of my legs (she always wakes when I try to get a photo of her)
A calico lies comfortably unbothered on the back of her human’s legs as human is laying on their stomach on the couch. From the weird angle, the photo was clearly taken under one arm seen raised up on the left edge of frame.

A view from near eye level of a cat draping over the end of a fuzzy grey blanket, stretching her forelegs onto the white couch cover towards the camera from the top of the photo. The bottom half of the vertical image is the white cover, slightly rumpled, gradually out of focus towards the bottom (near view). The cat looks like she was wakened from sleep, her head still resting on the couch between her outstretched forelegs, the left eye green & fully opened while the right is still mostly closed.

The Poppy War. So far meeting expectations. I’m enjoying the audio narration, too.
Cover of The Poppy War, by R.F. Kuang. The tagline reads, “They trained her for war. She intends to end it.”

The title is set in a thin, inscription-type typeface with the word “POPPY” in red. As though someone has waved a smoking stick over each word of the title, there appears a kind of black and red smoky remnant threading in, through, and around the letters of the title. The illustration in the bottom left is of a determined looking woman with short hair, standing in a slight side lunge on the slanted top of uneven ground, drawing a bow with an arrow notched and pointed down and to the left edge of the cover. The illustration is in the style of Chinese black ink brush, with a watery, wispy quality, especially to give a sense of motion to the skirting around her waist.

I love when my cat does that. Usually, she hangs out on my legs so she can cuddle with my butt
A calico cat lies on the backs of a person’s legs as they are lying prone on the floor, the cat’s head on the person’s butt. Four legs are visible: three of the cat’s legs form a capital F shape with one foreleg reaching forward towards the camera; the person’s foot, in an orange sock, reaches to the top of the photo under the F. The cat’s eyes are closed, but she looks like she’s smiling, blissful of the warming pad she’s heat sinking.

Must finish these two: Acceptance, Jeff Vandermeer The Marriage Portrait, Maggie O’Farrell
Cover of Acceptance, a novel by Jeff Vandermeer. The title is in extra black slab serif typeface broken into 4 lines with a detailed illustration of a moulting (or merely disheveled) owl, coloured pink, nearly filling the space behind. The owl appears to be in flight after having grabbed a rat, now clutched in its left claw. A tag tied to the rat’s leg shows a logo of a tower between the letters S and R. Three feathers have come loose around the owl. Screenshot from audiobook reader showing the cover of The Marriage Portrait by Maggie O’Farrell and indicating “68% PLAYED | 4h 15m left.”

The image is a close crop of the painting 1560 Lucrezia de' Medici, Duchess of Ferrara, by Agnolo Bronzino. Seven orange strips cover the portrait, as though someone has torn strips of the canvas off from the right and left sides, leaving the eyes, ear, and mouth still visible. Over these orange strips are the title, author’s name, etc. The slightly bulging but sad eyes stare at the viewer from between the strips that read “Marriage” and “Portrait,” as though compelling you to learn the truth of her marriage and her life.

Sometimes you want to sit in a box for a while
A calico cat is seen head on as she sits facing the camera, the symmetrical shape of her reduced to a head on top of a round, mostly white circle of body, and just the front of two white paws tucked neatly under the body. The cat is crouched centred inside a box that is open on its side. The top of the box is lost in shadow, and the angle of light creates interesting lines, shapes, and contrasts around the cat. The cat seems to be looking at something below the device used to take the photo, maybe a bit miffed to be disturbed in her safe space.

A calico cat sleeps in a very round ball shape with her paw covering her face and tail completing the circle from butt to head. Only her left hear breaks the shape in the bottom right.

Comic strip of Calvin & Hobbes. Calvin arrives home in first panel, announcing “I’M HO-OME!” In next 14 half-panels, Calvin opens the door and out of the black interior, Hobbes the tiger leaps at him and tackles him in slow motion, causing Calvin’s shoes to fly off. In the final frame, Calvin, supine, wrecked on the floor, utters, “Ever notice how time slows down during a catastrophe?” Hobbes, also supine but propped up on one arm and looking wistful, says, “Sighhh.. And good time are always over so fast..”

bluesky feed with a sense of irony
A screenshot of Bluesky feed with an NPR story of US Paralympic swimmer Ali Truwit (whose leg was amputated after being bitten by a shark) appearing above an image skeet from a marine biologist, @whysharkmatter, of him standing in front of a large wall ad with an image of a great white shark with the words, “Welcome to shark nation.”

My loaf of calico
A calico cat sleeping in a round shape on a much-used black fleece blanket, pictured from the back so that her head, tail, and feet cannot be seen. Her shape is like a loaf of round sourdough bread. Her colouring is mainly black tabby on the left, mainly orange tabby on the right, but the edging around the top, from left corner to right corner is white.
