Come down to Louisville and we can hang out on the ~3 miles of protected bike lanes inside the ring interstate.

Mine cuts out at 5%, which was super fun the first time when I found that out.

In Louisville, KYTC recently installed bollards at a downtown corner sidewalk… and insisted they be installed as “breakaway” poles.

Reducing road safety to data about victims blinds us from larger systemic causes. This severely limits our thinking about effective solutions. The only way forward begins with knowing WHO KILLS WHO. Look for the #CollissionMatrix.

I absolutely loved biking in/around Brugge when I visited a couple years ago. Hope you enjoyed your ride as well!

I applaud their effort, but do not trust anything that has a >10 year roadmap.

With the potential to bring TENS of permanent jobs to the region, it’s truly the most exciting new sector.

I’ve been unemployed for a little over a year, and I’ve found a total of *one* local job posting in that entire time for my flavor of development.

As I drove past the hundreds of millions of dollars in construction to expand I-64 from 2 to 3 lanes for maybe 5 miles in rural Kentucky this morning, I was thinking about how many years this project would fully fund our public transit agency that’s in a budget crunch.

I enjoyed this one, but it’s definitely my target genre. The TV show was surprisingly faithful as well.

Speeding doesn't actually save you meaningful time. All it really accomplishes is aggressively increasing the chances that you kill yourself or someone else outside your vehicle. It's a mathematically flawed, entirely selfish risk.

Never stops hitting me the way everyone in mainstream discourse agrees that if we want to help people, we first have to convince Republicans, while everyone in mainstream discourse also agrees that Republicans do not have to convince any of us before they hurt people.

i don't think we spend enough imagining how quiet and idyllic life would be if we flipped the ratio of bike/transit : car infrastructure.

I’ve pivoted into eBike Zyrtec/Flonase/Alaway season for that exact reason. (Well, the generic versions of them, but close enough) The itchy eyes have been worse this year than ever- eye drops are a life saver!

This made me feel super safe while waiting on the light.
A post with a button for cyclists that activates the crosswalk signal, but next to the post is a pile of debris from a recent car crash.

Got a 10-foot section of 4” PVC home by bike. Started with it on the right but quickly shifted it to the left so I could shift and use rear brakes. #carryshitolympics

I had this thought recently- not only does maintenance prioritize car lanes, but also the cars are so violent that they tend to “prune” vegetation growing into their lanes, BUT ALSO their high-speed tires “sweep” a lot of their debris into bike lanes and sidewalks.

The stealing lying hallucinating polluting job-killing potential-world-ending machine has us questioning whether anything is real, but at least it sometimes saves a few minutes on paperwork or something.

I went to PT after a broken ankle, went to 2 sessions. The intake forms on my phone took 20 minutes to finish, and the same forms were sent out again after 2 weeks. I ignored bc I wasn’t going back. They kept auto resending every week, with no option to unsubscribe, until I filled them out again.

I could see myself being one of the surge people- they made a good sandwich, but I didn’t want to pay those prices for it. Would pay it one more time, though.

I have a Trek ebike, the Verve+ 3, and I’ve been pretty happy with it. Would suggest a step-through frame regardless of what you get. But definitely go local as the other person suggested- I know multiple of my local bike shops will only service bikes they sell there.

Is this a replacement for the Verve+ line? They both seem to check all the same boxes from what I can tell.

Having 65 closed down for months with relatively minor impacts shows that we don’t need downtown highways completely ruining our riverfront and destroying our city.

If you took a 9-month contract job in a different state and rented an apartment while there, it would be criminal to deny that person local voting rights.

You are correct. As others have said, Artemis isn’t at the same level as PHM and The Martian. I saw Weir speak at the downtown library a few years ago, and even he said something along the lines of “I’m the author of a couple great sci fi books, and also Artemis.”

I did bike lane cleanup by bike today! The gravel spill in the Seneca lane had bothered me for too long, so I decided to clean it up. Only took about 40 minutes and 5 trips to the gravel parking nearby to spread out the debris. Before/after 👇
An ebike with a trailer attached, in the trailer are 2 buckets full of gravel. A bike lane with lots of gravel spilled into it. This is the “before” shot.A cleaned up bike lane. This is the “after” shot.

The recent hysteria over bike and ebike regulation is infuriating, dumb, and counter-productive.

And from a measly 100w panel that isn’t even outside most of the time!! This would be enough to power an EV car for maybe 5 miles. And it took me about 400 miles, plus all of my yard work!

Since April, I have exclusively charged my ebike and lawn tool batteries with a single portable 100w solar panel hooked into a 1kw backup battery. I only put it out on nice sunny days and it has been enough to entirely power my yard maint and a significant % of my transportation for months.

Nice ingenuity with the cup! My wife is a big fan of fountain cokes but I’ve always struggled to come up with a good solution to hold the cup on the bike.

If it were a governor’s appointment, absolutely I agree he should be moving heavens and earth to make them prove Mitch is still with us. But a special election? In Kentucky? I know we’ve got a blue governor, but he is by far the exception and ran against very weak and/or *hated* opponents.
020
Matt Stone (not that one) @stonz2.bsky.social · 22/07/2026
But why would he want the special election? What does the Democratic Party gain by (most likely) having a new GOP senator in Mitch’s place?

I was telling a friend, I keep thinking “we must find the truth and demand proof of life!!” and then remembering the GOP is down a vote at the moment and I’m not sad about that.
