Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 15/05/2025I'm sure you've thought of this option already, but consider a therapist if anxiety is main issue with your sleep. 110
Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 09/04/2025This sort of stuff is what drove me away from MMA. It's sad and, tbh, it's heartbreaking. 020
Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 24/03/2025I ran Big Game Hunters a #fabtcg event this weekend. It was designed to be a bit like old school magic where players put up ante. There were also so flavourful twists and turns as players each received a unique Blessing of Chaos or Blessing of Dracai to use during the event. 4x commoner into CC T8. 120
Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 19/03/2025I actually like it when a show subverts expectations regarding plot armour. The film itself I go back and forth on. I've probably seen it about five times and sometimes I think it's bland and uninteresting, even boring. Sometimes I think it's dark, grim and engaging. 010
Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 13/03/2025Hunter or Hunted. I'm hosting my second event at my LGS next weekend. Some flavourful additions being prepared. The games might not be as hard as reading my handwriting :P If you're in New Zealand and want to sign up you can do so here: novagames.co.nz/collections/... 060

Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 10/03/2025You content is amazing. But just do whatever brings you joy, whether it's staying or leaving. 150
Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 18/02/2025I'm running my second event at a local store in New Zealand. This one is Hunted themed. As such, participants bring along a bounty of cards and claim bounties from others for each game they win. Excited to put together another event and do something a bit different for the community :) 062
Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 16/02/2025Won my Road to Nationals here in New Zealand playing Oscilio. Taking out 3x CYB decks in the top 8, including beating Calling Champion Matt Rogers and Guardian legend Cayle McCreath. Ecstatic with the result! 5332
Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 14/02/2025But the prestige of a high placing... ESPECIALLY on Rhinar ... is priceless. 130
Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 11/02/2025My preference would be for the shared example. I know there's problems either way, but I know there's local players who will now, at a competitive event, need to be coaxed at every moment and will be looking to move quickly their opponent forgets. It's bad sportsmanship ... but the game allows it 230
Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 11/02/2025I understand there's advantages and disadvantages both ways ... but James' personal story amounted to being put into a position of playing by the rules or not, not being put in a position of helping his opponent win. The cards are played, do they take effect? 1/2 230
Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 08/02/2025Day two of the #fabtcg Calling Christchurch on Oscillio with a 5-2 record. Very proud to get this far after setting my goal for the event at 1 win. Looking forward to the games today :) 030
Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 02/02/2025Really love it. Also, love how you captured Florence noteable facial structure. Really cool piece! 010

Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 15/01/2025It's always nerve wracking to put yourself out there by doing something creative but I bet the results are rad. 010
Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 30/12/2024It's New Years eve here in New Zealand, wishing all the #fabtcg family a happy New Year and a 2025 filled with great friends and great games. 170
Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 23/12/2024In card games you might find a 50 yo playing against a 10 yo, a mother playing against her son's friend, a neurodiverse person discussing deck builds with someone else. I've always thought the strength of the community is it is almost unconditionally accepting of whoever wants to play. 3/3 060
Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 23/12/2024I was a bit socially awkward growing up and found a home playing Magic cards with friends, people at a local store, and at school (when we weren't kicked out of the library for doing so). It gave me a sense of community I might not have otherwise experienced and I'm grateful for it. 2/x 150
Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 23/12/2024One thing I like about TCGs is that they are often welcoming of people who are a bit different in one way or another. The communities are usually a little odd in someway, and so if someone else comes along who doesn't quite fit a societal norm, then they are welcomed in as one of the same. 1/x 190

Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 05/12/2024There's so many unhelpful and inaccurate views on mental health in social media. My supervisor gave a wonderful articulation of my experience as a therapist today when he said "Years ago, psycho-education used to be about teaching people new ideas, now it is about getting them to discard ideas". 010
Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 26/11/2024I don't know who you are (Discover feed!) but that's an amazing achievement. Well done! :) 110
Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 25/11/2024Really? If you can maintain the ability, it's likely an energy potion every turn. That seems really powerful. 230
Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 25/11/2024I hadn't seen the musical before but went to see the movie with my partner. I appreciated that it was equal parts magic/Oz and Mean Girls. It was a banger! 110
Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 21/11/2024Agreed. Playing some classes (and a fairly large spread classes) into Engima feels like playing into early Prism more than like playing into Dromai. 010

Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 13/11/2024A big of a throwback draft of #fabtcg with friends over the weekend. I was the one of Iyslander ... as evidenced by the seven Aether Iceviens :P Only played two rounds, but went 2-0 beating a 1/4 Dromai and a 1/3 Fai. Draft is probably my favourite format of FaB. 030
Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 13/11/2024James White's commentary that CYB Engima is "what a control deck looks like in Flesh and Blood" seems to indicate banning Sink and/or Fate is not the direction the developers are looking at. 000
Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 12/11/2024But most Engima's on CYB don't attack. So they will always be below. If they aren't, they just take some damage. The cards that would have blocked stay in the deck and so are life/block later given that the match up will go to fatigue. There isn't really a mini-game, it just lengthens the game. 100
Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 12/11/2024You can play it that way. CYB being generic means it can go in any deck though. Michael Hamilton at World's ran it in Nuu. That style of build doesn't really fit thematically with an assassin but it is possible to build the deck that way. CYB Engima doesn make ward/auras but not till turn 50 :P 010
Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 12/11/2024Reaping Blade, if that's what you're referencing, doesn't really help with CYB in a meaningful way. 110
Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 12/11/2024This allows any deck to have a counter of some type if they make the space for it, if people sleep on CYB it allows that deck to win a tournament. It also allows counter play by the CYB player, who can wait till you tap out and play his spells or play another life gain in response 5/x 020
Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 12/11/2024exist that allow you to play your game into CYB (but ideally it shouldn't be a one card, hard counter either). Something like Vambrace but a bit stronger ... like a generic arms piece that said pay two: the next time your opponent would gain life this turn prevent it 4/x 310
Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 12/11/2024play your game against them, are starts in play, stays in play cards ... you also know you'll be playing Kano when you see the hero reveal. For CYB to be healthy, I think the same conditions would need to occur and a generic equipment piece or multiple classes equipment pieces would need to 3/x 130
Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 12/11/2024And I thought about other decks that require specific countering. Kano jumps to mind, if you didn't bring more than 1 AB and/or SV then you generally just lose without getting to play the game. The difference that came to my mind was that the counter to Kano, or at least the cards that let you 2/x 120
Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 12/11/2024I also found that language a bit confronting but tbf, it's not far away from what Oldhim did in the past. I was recently thinking about the counters to CYB and how they need to be made space for in the sideboard, but then also drawn at relevant times and then, themselves not be countered... 1/x 230
Sam George @stonethecrow01.bsky.social · 11/11/2024There's no denying you were on to this card's deal from the start. 110
