Go ahead and keep telling people the fix is in and Trump is going to steal the election no matter what because he has magical powers. Pretend you don’t realize that’s the equivalent of telling people not to bother voting. That’s what you want, right? People to think voting won’t matter?

I finished reading ‘Exit Party’ last night. Once again @emilymandel.bsky.social has written a moving and thought provoking novel that is also wildly entertaining. I definitely recommend this book.

Right now I am trapped in a parking spot at our neighborhood co-op because: 1) a beer truck parked behind me in a non drop off zone to save time. 2) an asshat in an extended cab pickup parked too close to me on the right. 3) an absolute moron on a motorcycle blocked my left

Last day of the season at the neighborhood pool here in Madison, WI…summer went too fast.

Giving in to procrastinating is one of my most annoying self-inflicted flaws. I just finished a task that I have put off for a week. It has been weighing on my mind, stressing me. It took FIFTEEN MINUTES to do. Now I feel better, wonder why I let it linger. And sad thing is I will do this again.

There is simply not a better crowd in sports than the home crowd at a Minnesota Lynx game. This is judge completely in my own scale of fun, engagement, game knowledge, and total lack of toxicity. Go #Lynx!!! #WNBA #Women’sSports

Interesting that I have seen this same exact post from a number of accounts…since it is statistically impossible for multiple people to spontaneously type the exact same post, guess we are in the land of the bots….also, MAGA sucks, centrists have no moral character

Early morning run, took a pause at the kettle pond…only sounds were the frogs croaking and woodpeckers working…

Loving the Lynx putting it to the Wings, but knowing Dallas is at some point going to make some 3s. #WNBA.

Absolutely hilarious to me that this has become a hot button topic. I am also of the ‘guys that take up too much time to back into a space are performative idiots’, but don’t feel strongly about it. What I do love is their passion for the ‘but akshully, you don’t know how to drive like a pro’

Went on a 2.5 hour hike with friends yesterday…lovely but the heat and hilly terrain took a lot out of us.

Saw a new lifer, Northern Mockingbird, puts me up to 175 birds since we took up birding during COVID. Pleasant walk along the Delaware River in out East Coast visit; these birds are common here but rare back home.

May is mental health awareness month. We need more empathy and less judgment. Everyone struggles. Life is hard. If you are hurting, reach out to someone. I do a support group for families of alcoholics…it was hard to walk in to my first meeting but it has changed my life for the better to share.

We saw the ‘Family Folk Machine’ performance in Iowa City because we have friends in the group…it was really well done and amazingly progressive for Iowa. I was moved.

Good book. I cared about the characters. I was on edge the entire time (which is not always my jam but I enjoyed this one). Definitely recommend this one. #Reading

53 years ago today, the last U.S. combat troops left South Vietnam, ending America’s direct role in the Vietnam War. I remember seeing this anti-war PSA back then. Its message is sadly still very relevant today as Trump drags us into another unpopular war.

Author won Nobel prize for literature, so I don’t need to pump this book up with my words….unlike anything I have ever read (heavy on astrology, which is not my thing, but works well in the narrative).

Very interesting read about the fall of the Shah of Iran. If you ever need a reminder that the people we put in power are just flawed humans that make terrible mistakes, read some history my friend.

I really enjoyed this book, ha, despite an awful review from the Times…a short read and well worth the time.

The author changed up the formula for this book, very enjoyable but not quite the same vibe as the first too books, expect something different.

My library reading program suggested a book about sports, so I picked up Ball Four, and what a great choice it was. So amazing to see the inner workings MLB through the eyes of a player. #Books

Does this picture suck? Why yes it does. But those black dots you can barely make out are part of a convocation of 20+ bald eagles that were flying over the Iowa River in Iowa City. I had never seen anything like it, but was way too cold to unpack the car and get my camera.

Ha, I almost…ALMOST, got involved in a discussion with a fucking muppet that was spouting off on the WNBA negotiations and all sorts of misinformation about profitability. I need to remember there are plenty of sheep for the patriarchy on this app, just less than on some other apps.

Carver Arena in Iowa City the night before Thanksgiving (crowd filled in by tipoff)…love to see women’s sports supported. Highlight of the day was seeing Taylor Stremlow and Layla Hayes at the Bread Garden a few hours before game.

I drove to the food pantry to donate some items and ended up sitting in my car fucking weeping because of the line of people waiting in the cold for food. We need some solutions, and some leadership to get people out in the fucking streets doing something. Fuck the midterms, people are hungry.
