When I competed in 2015 we took this cute pic of my 2 year old imitating dad. Well the now 13 year old and I decided to recreate it (we meant to do it on Friday when I still had the full tan, but better late than never).

I reposted this, but tacking itonto this thread as well bc I think it's useful context. Margaret was also a co-author of the Stochastic Parrots paper and recently offered some thoughts on which parts of the analogy hold up (and which have been widely misunderstood): medium.com/@margarmitch...

One of the reasons I hate gen AI is how it denigrates the hard work of people who do real CGI work (which is difficult and tedious). I made my own Transformers fan film using Blender to composite the robots into live action footage. Weeks of work. Half the comments on Youtube accuse me of using AI.

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

There are so many different audiences for different movies and there's no magical rule to follow to get a hit and anyone who claims to know the rule is a grifter.
Nobody knows anything...... Not one person in the entire motion picture field knows for a certainty what's going to work. Every time out it's a guess and, if you're lucky, an educated one.

After The Economist’s interview with Elon Musk, will major media finally reassess how they cover the fascist billionaire? As its editor-in-chief did the rounds saying she was “not a Musk hater,” he was on X calling her a traitor to the West and suggesting she be murdered. Please, have some dignity.
