#FOFriday submissions from me are 12” parasols in Genderfluid Pride and Asexual Pride Flags. And I’m including a work-in-progress Bi Pride Flag on which I’ve already messed up the ratio of colors. But I’m just pressing on. Yes, it is 2 days to Ogden Pride. HOW COULD YOU TELL!? (sorry I yelled)
A finished Genderfluid Pride Flag crochet cover on a 12” parasol with white arm tips and a white topper. In this image it’s just a white void. A finished crochet cover featuring the Asexual Pride Flag. It’s existing in a white void so it looks nice on my we site later. A work-in-progress crochet cover for a 12” parasol lies crumpled up on my black desktop. This cover is hot pink at the center with a section of purple and now one round of blue at the edge. When it’s done I hope it may resemble the Bisexual Pride Flag.

My 1.75mm crochet hook with a wooden handle is visible in the lower right. It is currently engaged in my crochet work.

My gold scissors are also visible in the top right.

Same day update! #crochet 🧶 I finished the Genderfluid Pride Flag so it’s blocking and I’ve started on an Asexual Pride Flag 12” parasol. I really love the Ace Pride flag. It might be my second favorite pride flag?
An image of two works-in-progress crochet parasol covers. They are framed top to bottom. The top parasol cover is pinned to a neon green flat foam panel to block it into shape.

The bottom parasol cover lies on my black desktop. It is black at the center, grey on most of the edges, and the outer edge of one fan has one row of white cotton yarn.

My #WiPWednesday contribution this week: a 12” parasol #crochet cover in 100% cotton #yarn that will be available at Ogden Pride Festival this Sunday, Oct 4th, from 11-6pm. This is almost the Genderfluid Pride Flag, it just needs its blue rounds on the outer edge.
A work-in-progress parasol cover lies on my black desktop. This parasol features the genderfluid pride flag with pink at the center, followed by white, purple, black, and a little more than a third of one row of blue, which will be the outer edge of this 12” parasol.

My wood-handled 1.75mm crochet hook is visible on the lower right engaged with the working blue yarn.

Finishing up a Trans Pride Flag filet #crochet 🧶 parasol for Ogden Pride this Sunday, Oct 4th. I’m in the amphitheater, booth 38. It’s Ogden Pride’s first year in Oct. as voted last year in August… which was HOT 🥵 Come enjoy nice temps! Oct. 3rd is the Banned Wagon premiere. Don’t miss it!
A nearly-finished filet crochet 35” parasol lies on my black desktop. One round handle of my little scissors is visible in the top right unintentionally.

This parasol features the Transgender Pride Flag in light blue, light pink, white, light pink, and light blue This is the 2026 Ogden Pride Festival logo. A Progressive Pride Flag is on the top with the festival theme across the rainbow part of the flag which says: RESIST PERSIST EXIST… Under the flag is a black-on-grey crowd of people holding flags, many with their arms up, and October 3rd and 4th across the people in white.

I’m struggling to get the actual sparkle of these #beads, but it just isn’t coming out. They are dazzling. Since it’s #Dolly Parton Day I thought it appropriate to bling up a #parasol as outrageously as I could. I hope this one is enough for her and Bob Mackie when I’m through.
A finished crochet parasol cover lies on my black desktop. The visible part of this parasol is the center toward the top right of the image. The yarn is a bright pink which fades slowly into orange and yellow at the left of the image.

A box of various sizes of very holographic beads is on top of it.

This section of parasol has peacock feather eyes crocheted into it, but the centers are holes, so I am in the process of filling the center holes with the beads.A sideways view of a finished parasol I’m currently adding beads to lies on my black desktop. The clear box of beads is visible at the top center of the image.

The crochet parasol is a little crumpled up, but the bottom edge has the orange rows I’ve already attached beads to which fades into pink at the top of the image & center of the parasol.

It’s been 4 months & I’ve returned to this #parasol☂️ This pattern is Pineapples & Leaves & I enjoy the 3D look without front post/back post #crochet 🧶. This will be a 30” parasol in 4-5 days. It’s been raining here, so blocking will take longer to dry. It will use 800m of 100% cotton yarn.
A work-in-progress crochet parasol cover lies on my black desktop. The bottom edge of the cover is folded back on the center of the cover.

My 2.75mm wood crochet hook is engaged in the working yarn in the right side of the image.

This yarn is Rena’s Threads 100% cotton is a ROYGBIV rainbow gradient beginning with red at the center and fading slowly out to blue at the edge. There is also a continuous white thread running throughout the colors which brightens up the work a lot. This image is a close up on my current work-in-progress crochet parasol cover. The cover is folded back over itself to show the side intended to be viewed.

My wooden crochet hook is engaged in the working yarn and slightly visible at the middle right side of this image.

My Rage Against the Machine/Les Mis mashup is complete. This is my interpretation of the quilt guild’s summer challenge “quilt with your interpretation and/or feelings towards our current ‘democracy’” all hand stitched.
Quilt hanging on a card catalog. Neutral background with navy cursive appliqué “Do you hear thr people sing?” The background is embroidered in red starting light and getting bolder the lyrics to “killing in the name” the quilting effect is a focused sunburst from the center.

Ok, so the article is dated 2020 so may have heard about this already, but I'm quite excited now: someone made a string of yarn over 40,000 years ago that is only 0.5mm thick and a 3ply. Also, the plies are s, the yarn is z plied, which imho makes it likely that the person doing it was left-handed🧶

Finished 6 rows last night, I had begun the blue section, but I noticed a mistake in two peacock feather motifs, so now I have a giant pile of yarn and a parasol cover that looks like yesterday’s. Worth it. Can’t feel good about selling a substandard #parasol. #wipWednesday #crochet 🧶 #frogged
An image of a pile of yarn is closer to the viewer on the left and a work-in-progress crochet parasol cover is further away from the viewer on the right.

The work-in-progress circular section is bright pink at the center and fades out to orange and yellow with just a single round of bright green at its edge.

The pile of yarn is yellow-green and fades into darker green at the bottom, which isn’t particularly visible in this image.

Loving the watermelon quality of this parasol cover right now 🍉 I’m crocheting with a 2.75mm hook. #Yarn 🧶 is Scheepjes cotton whirl in 711 Sprinkles. Pattern will be peacock feathers w holo beads at the centers. This will be a Gay Pride parasol, but w the brightness turned way up. #crochet #wip
A rumpled work-in-progress crochet parasol cover lies on my black desktop. The top section is folded over the pink center, but toward the bottom of the image the gradient is apparent: pink to orange to yellow to light green at the edge. The folded-over section places the light green near the bright pink center and looks very watermelon like.

This pattern features repeated peacock feathers which are just beginning to show at this point.

It’s #WiPWednesday 🧶 I’m back to the soft touch of Rena’s Threads yarn in the Celestial Lake Sparkle colorway. It has a shimmery gold thread running throughout. This pattern is self-drafted. I call it All Flowers. If you’re here for Gay Pride gothic rainbow, it’ll be back on FOFriday!
A close-up image of a small 8” work-in-progress crochet parasol top lying on my black desktop.

The worked yarn is at the bottom right of the image and is a light peach with a single gold thread running through it to add shimmer. In the top left of the image is the rest of the cake of yarn with just the outside dark green with single gold thread visible.

An unvarnished pic tonight of what my #crochet work really looks like while I’m working. This is the wrong side. I’m nearly finished with this Gay Pride parasol cover in my #stashbusting imitation of Rena’s Threads Gothic Rainbow colorway. Still 100% cotton #yarn
A messy pile of upside down crochet lies on my black desktop. My yellow-gold 3.5mm crochet hook is engaged in the yarn and visible at the bottom right.

This parasol cover is a ROYGBIV rainbow, red at the center fading one strand at a time through all of the colors until purple at the bottom edge.

I’m imitating Rena’s Threads Gothic Rainbow using yarn I already have. Although it’s still 100% cotton, it’s not as nice to #crochet with, but stash busting is good… Right? Right!? I hope you’re having a great weekend. Weekends are great. Thanks, unions!
A work-in-progress crochet parasol cover lies on my black desktop. At the top of the image the cover is red and fades slowly thru orange, yellow, to green at the bottom of the image. There is a single strand of black throughout the yarn to create a gothic rainbow.

In the bottom right corner I mistakenly got the hook end of my crochet hook and one handle of my golden scissors.

For #FOFriday I submit a 30” #Non-Binary #Pride Flag parasol in a pattern I created using 100% cotton yarn from indie dyer Rena’s Threads. 8,832 stitches, not counting chains. Hope you enjoy 🖤
A 100% cotton 30” parasol is open wide and held aloft above the photographer’s head. This parasol features the Non-Binary Pride Flag in a self-drafted pattern with 8 swirling spikes radiating out from the center with triangular fans filling in the space when the 8 spikes separate.

The background is my off-white ceiling.

Here it is! 30” non-binary pride flag #crochet parasol cover is blocking. The 11/0 #beads are VERY difficult to see, but I had a great time adding them, so I don’t regret it. I’ll stick to 8/0 and 6/0 on cotton from now on. This #yarn is from indie dyer Rena’s Threads & the #pattern is my own.
A 30” wide crochet parasol cover is stretched and pinned for its last blocking session before it goes on a parasol frame. It is pinned on top of a light, dusty pink blanket.

This parasol features the Non-binary Pride Flag with yellow at the center fading one strand of yarn at a time into white, then purple, and black at the edge.

The pattern includes 8 spiraling petal shapes with triangular fan shapes filling in the empty spaces as the petals separate. This id a high-coverage parasol pattern I drafted myself.

Well, the tiny #beads aren’t super noticeable, but that’s not too unexpected. I do think they’ll add a nice sparkle in the sunlight, so it’s worth continuing for me. Previously I’ve used these beads on single threads of silk and I think thicker cotton 4-ply overwhelms them a bit. #Crochet 🧶
A work-in-progress parasol cover lies on my black desktop. At the top of the image the yarn is white fading to purple then fading thru darker purple to black at the bottom edge. Also at the bottom edge there are tiny 11/0 metallic black beads crocheted on the edge of the parasol cover.

The wooden handle of my crochet hook is partially visible at the bottom left.

I got too excited to be back at #crochet & decided to bead this parasol ☂️ edge. I waded thru several sizes/shapes of beads & came up w the smallest beads I own. They’re so small i need to split it yarn in half, so… That may be more work than I intended. I hope they’ll look rainbow-y! 🌈
This is an image of a work-in-progress crochet parasol cover that is folded on itself on the right side, a silver scoop with three piles of loose tiny beads in the lower left, and the tiny beads’ clear plastic tubes are in the top left. Everything is lying on my black desktop.

I’m going to add these beads all along the edges of this parasol cover before I attach it to its frame.

5 more rows to go. Soooo close. Time to put my head down and listen to #MLS 360 - which is known at my house as Soccer Shouting. I may get this blocking tonight and on a frame tomorrow. #Crochet 🧶
A crochet parasol cover is spread open on my black desktop.

This parasol cover is still a work-in-progress. It has an 8-armed spiral from the center out to the edge with small details like V- and T-shaped stitches so I don’t get bored while crocheting. As the 8 solid spiral sections come to points, small shells spread in triangles between. This pattern is self-drafted.

This cover features the non-binary pride flag with yellow at the center fading one strand at a time thru white, purple, and what will be solid black at the edge. This yarn was dyed by Rena’s Threads.

Today’s the day!! Almost 2 months without #crochet, but now I. Am. Back. That pile o’ WiPs will be destroyed soon. Yay!! I’m so happy!! 🖤💜🖤
In focus in the foreground is my wood-handled crochet hook with its 2.75mm size indication in the bottom right. It is attached to a work-in-progress non-binary pride flag parasol cover that is crumpled on my black desktop.

Toward the top of the picture is a pile of works-in-progress including my ever-popular 100% cotton Gothic Rainbow - with a single black thread running throughout the rainbow, two trans pride flags - one bamboo and one cotton, and an opposite Gothic Rainbow with a single white thread throughout the rainbow.

So until my joy of crochet returns I’m picking up old #crossstitch projects. And I have invented a new project for myself. I’m using screenshots from #WidowsBay to create personal patterns. I intend to write the cute ready-for-travel-blogs episode summaries over them. I hope they turn out
A pink cross stitch hoop is partially visible at the top with 20-ct Aida cloth stretched in it. A zip-top bag is laid over it with “Widow’s Bay DMC” written in brown Sharpie in my all-caps print. My cross stitch needle - yes, i have only one - is visible under the word DMC in the middle of the image. At the bottom of the image a variety of DMC embroidery floss are piled in the zip-top bag over my black desktop. Two finished, but un-ironed, cross stitch works lie on my black desktop. To the left a beautiful gothic font says “Got the morbs” with a raven on the E of the word The and a small skull w no mandible is in front of the M of the word Morbs. This was a Victorian slang phrase.

To the right a small grim reaper w skull face and scythe is perched above the words “Killin’ It”. This was a request for my partner’s new work office

Neither pattern is my own, although I have added or subtracted to the patterns as I saw fit.

When it is finished it will also have a black stripe to make the Non-Binary Pride Flag. This pattern is one of my own design at features 8 high-coverage fans with 8 small open spaces that become swirling arms.

Darker yellow flames surround it fading to orange and eventually red at the edge which is about the middle of the image. 4 of the 8 silver metal arms of the parasol are visible. Memorial Day weekend project. This pattern as written had 3 solid star repeats, but I need this to be 4’ wide, so I’m now going rogue, doing math, making it work. This yarn is from my new favorite indie dyer - Rena’s Threads - and it’s called Pink Lotus. #Crochet 🧶 #Parasol #Yarn #FibreArt #WiP
A work-in-progress crochet doily lies on my black desktop. The doily features an 8-pointed star pattern. It begins as bright orange in the center, which is on the top right of the image. And fades very slowly into white, and pink is just beginning to appear at the edge which is on the bottom left of the image. My 3.5mm crochet hook is visible in The bottom left corner currently engaged in the yarn.

Tonight’s room rainbow feels like a party to me. Appropes for a Friday night. The window film making my room full of rainbows this time of year is in another room at my house. Didn’t plan this, but I do enjoy it. Hope you’re having a great night. 🖤
This is a picture of a wall in my room with a rainbow shining across it. The light is refracted by window film in a different room.

I had this all set to block. I was ready to spray it with water. Then the birds yelled and I checked on them. By the time I got back the cat was laying on this nearly-finished work. Ugh. Now to begin blocking again. Still love this Diana yarn by Rena’s Threads. #CatStory #Crochet 🧶 #Oops
A nearly-finished 48” crochet doily lies on a pink-ish padded square. The edges and center have been ruffled up by a cat who laid right on top. This doily is neon yellow high fades to blue creating green briefly. The blue fades to pink creating purple and the outer edges are black.
