An idea just stroke me for a Fediverse TV show: Pimp my instance. A famous person visits your instance and gets you all sorts of upgrades, more RAM, maybe cache, SMTP, 24 inch Grafana dashboards for monitoring...

I'll ask on this account as well: Does anyone have experience with those fans that you put on your stove and they run from the hear on the stove and a Peltier cell? Did anyone build something like that themselves? I'm wondering if getting a Peltier cell and a drone motor with a propeller would […]

I am making an experiment with the image I am working on. I've been shooting this part of the sky for three nights so far, and I wanted to compare the results. The image on the left is stacked from material from the first night only, 1 hour of integration time […] [Original post on fedi.stfn.pl]

I need to buy a new CPU for my desktop PC. The only two use cases for it are Astrophotography and Civilization V, and both could use some more processing power.

Here is the new 3D print I designed: It's a small dovetail for astronomy and astrophotography, in the "Synta", or "small Vixen" standard. Useful for mounting guide scopes or finders. It's designed to work with M5 allen bolts, so that their heads are flush with the body of the dovetail […]

Also CtP had troop ships to which you could load other units. I haven't played all of the Sid Meier's Civilization series, but the ones I played, all lacked them.

In 1999 Civilization: Call to Power was released, game similar to Sid Meier's Civilization series, but with a lot of differences. One of them was pollution, a feature missing in Sid's games. Cities could produce pollution and if it went over a level, it would destroy the surrounding tiles. You […]

If people had those giant manga/anime eyes, we could see much more objects in the night sky. Larger irises would allow for more light gathering.
