When I'm writing poetry I'm often listening to music to set an atmosphere or to remind me of a time. I've put together playlists for each of my books, including the latest one Sleeping through the stars, witg the music I was listening to while writing them.

My new pamphlet 'Sleeping through the stars' is out now. Following the launch last week, it's great to see it in the flesh and out in the world. The simple cover and colour pallette matches the simplicity and starkness of the poems within, exploring themes of life, loss, and lessons from the stars.

Owl in November

A white figure rises, disturbed,
from the overgrown margins
of the field, and up into dusk.

All souls in time take flight.
And in time they will return,
circling and quartering the same territory.

The search reveals nothing.
No mammal asleep in a circle,
no finding a heartbeat.
