[Like other utopian novels of the era I've encountered, "Red Star" is not particularly well-written (the only utopian novel I can think of with decent prose is "The Dispossessed"). Bogdanov attends *very* carefully to the physics of space travel, to an almost Poul Anderson-like degree.]
