iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

I have a bit of personal good news to share tomorrow.

Being in a tech union rules, we work four day weeks and have protections against redundancies created by AI usage and other stuff. And you can just.. organize and make one at your workplace. aflcio.org/formaunion/4...

YES you're "cognitively offloading" when you have the maps apps do turn-by-turn GPS navigation for you you're "cognitively offloading" when you do division on a calculator instead of doing long division by hand etc. etc. there's nothing inherently wrong with it, people are just weird about AI

Trying to not have sour grapes over not getting a Steam Frame, but as an early adopter on other Valve hardware, it does seem like they dropped the ball. Setting aside the memory crisis, they clearly announced it WAY before it was ready to ship, and made some very odd decisions for such a device.

I really don't know how to feel about season 4 of Ted Lasso. When it hits, it hits great. But it really, REALLY feels like "we got told to make more of this". There is little reason for most returning characters to be here aside from forced B plots, and romance is what they keep falling back on.

a lot of people need to internalize that you need to be high agency — now more than ever act, even when it feels awkward push yourself, even when it feels out of your league take chances, even when you know they might not pay off I know it's not easy, but a lot of people fall into self-defeatism

My streak of beating the day one rush is ruined, curse you Steam Frame

Text screenshot.

You are on the waitlist for Steam Frame 1TB Kit.

When we did the one-time randomization of the list, your place in line ended up beyond the number of Steam Frames currently available for reservation.

As we work our way through the reservation queue, some customers may cancel their reservations. If that happens, you may be moved into the reservation queue, and you'll be notified via email that you have a reservation after all.

I would like media to care more about the reality that tech tycoons want to kill people than what they’re imagining about AI wanting to kill people. We have multi-millionaires (with support from billionaires!) calling for ethnic cleansing, a thing that has happened in living memory. Not theoretical!

$1049 on Steam Frame would've been a stiff deal last year but in the current economic hellscape we live in it could've been worse. I'll take it. Glad they spent that time getting color passthrough figures out as an upgrade. Will be fun for mixed reality hackers.

Ok, genuinely, tech journalists need to investigate why so much money is being laundered into Omarchy. A bunch of slopware from a white supremacist does not deserve $18 million when real Linux projects have gone unfunded for years. There has to be something else going on here.

I really wish the #ffxiv community had more tact. Seeing full guides for content that launched 12 hours ago is super demotivating. If you can't play the game at 3 AM or you have a day job, you just get handed a rule book to follow before you can even try. At least wait a week. Or even a day. But no.
