steveroonie.bsky.social @steveroonie.bsky.social · 12hI used to enjoy it too although it dates from before I owned my own television so my catching it was a bit hit and miss. Happy memories of driving home from gigs in the small hours and hearing Whispering Bob's radio show over quite a few years. He played some good stuff then too. 010

steveroonie.bsky.social @steveroonie.bsky.social · 22hThat one's got a lot of stories to tell. Shot of the wiring is cool, thanks. I can understand why 'all original' is a better selling point than 'fully functioning'. That's possibly why I'm not so well suited to owning these old things. 120

steveroonie.bsky.social @steveroonie.bsky.social · 23hI remember the X-Ray Spex adverts and was more confounded by how they could possibly function than intrigued by the lewd possibilities. Bless me. steveroonie.bsky.social @steveroonie.bsky.social · 05/10/2026It's out there now. Sensible people should be prepared to speak out now and overwhelm the performative outrage of the isolationists. The dismal track record of the last few years ought to be enough to sway any waverers if the case is made clearly. 001
steveroonie.bsky.social @steveroonie.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Scary Movie Month. I have no memory of being scared by any movie as a child. Perhaps I didn't get to the cinema very much back then, or I've managed to delete the whole experience. 🙂 030

steveroonie.bsky.social @steveroonie.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Now I'm minded of a Slow Horses book I recently reread where a woman in a fight used half of a broken CD as a weapon to stab her adversary's face. Perhaps you might just find room for Tom Petty in your jacket pocket. Be prepared. 110

steveroonie.bsky.social @steveroonie.bsky.social · 03/10/2026We're both optimists. The air must be so rarified at that level that I don't know how people there breathe. Perhaps if you're a Rolling Stone the cost would be tax deductible. 120
steveroonie.bsky.social @steveroonie.bsky.social · 03/10/2026My pleasure, Mr Vintage. The guitar is eye catching for sure, which I confess is partly the point. My tech friend Joe had a range of pickups under the name Sonic Monkey and I asked him to wind a bridge one on a white bobbin. That was a bridge too far for him. He was right. 010

steveroonie.bsky.social @steveroonie.bsky.social · 03/10/2026"And you've just had some sort of mushroom and your mind is moving slow." Long running in-jokes are part of the joy in long term relationships. I used to sing Chantilly Lace to both of my boys when they were babies and toddlers. They still roll their eyes. 🙄 110
steveroonie.bsky.social @steveroonie.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Oh yes, and I've soldered dozens of model racing cars together out of brass and piano wire over the past 20 years. Wiring is no problem. 130

steveroonie.bsky.social @steveroonie.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Isn't that the sort of thing you're supposed to hang off the trailer hitch on your oversize wheel pickup truck? 000
steveroonie.bsky.social @steveroonie.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Fine, fine acting! At the time I felt as if I was missing out on a lot but now I wonder if being youngish in the sixties may have been like dodging a generational bullet. Mind you, the seventies weren't at all short of dire moments. 110

steveroonie.bsky.social @steveroonie.bsky.social · 03/10/2026The point of these photos is that a tech friend of mine has modified the capacitor values to instead give a mid focused tone to the 'neck' position. It's like having a wah pedal left in the centre of it's sweep. It's surprisingly usable. 🙂 130
steveroonie.bsky.social @steveroonie.bsky.social · 03/10/2026I'm glad you asked that. In the middle position the single pickup works as you'd normally expect with tone and volume control. In the 'bridge' position the tone control is bypassed giving slightly brighter and louder output. The 'neck' position gives a preset bass heavy tone in a standard Esquire. 230
steveroonie.bsky.social @steveroonie.bsky.social · 02/10/2026It remains a true observation of fact though. 010
steveroonie.bsky.social @steveroonie.bsky.social · 02/10/2026I'm old enough that Rachel's mother held, and continues to occupy, a very special place in my memory. Never tried an audiobook. Suspect I'm too fidgety and my attention would drift if my hands weren't occupied turning pages. It might have been different when I was driving long distances at work. 110
steveroonie.bsky.social @steveroonie.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Uh oh! You've started me humming *that* Jefferson Airplane song now, Maggie. 110
steveroonie.bsky.social @steveroonie.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Thank you, Marianne. Your daughter possesses good sense. If you start with a musical vision in mind then finding or creating the best tools to realise that aim is an ongoing search. That it's also fun is a happy bonus. 130
