In Otero County, the race for sheriff was decided in the Republican primary (no opposition in the general election). The likely next sheriff will be Geraldine Yazza Martinez, a registered member of the Mescalero Apaches. Happy Indigenous Peoples Day indeed!

East side of the T Basin we got some rain last night, and so I looked on line, and yes it was the outer band of Hurricane Rachel. 2nd hurricane this year. Who knew one needed a hurricane tracker in the desert southwest? No rain today though.

I looked at the trailers of some of these upcoming films on Youtube. In particular, the Moses trilogy from MGM - Amazon. IMHO, really poor AI - indeed to my eyes, worse than the moving stills that some of these types of films have. I'll be interest to see if the audience (evangelicals?) like the AI

A rather late check-in. We stayed in. A reasonable decision, so far no massive flooding (and it does usually come down the Mts by now). Some damaged roads. I so far haven’t heard of any deaths or home destruction. Weather forecast is dry. We will un-batten the hatches tomorrow.

In my defense, I was 75 miles inland . But both Charlotte NC and Johnson City TN show 75 is nothing to a determined storm. At least I was living not far from a city’s water pumping station, which put me way up on getting my power restored. Only 3 days in.

Good morning NM. Here on the western side of the Sacramentos (toes?), it's been a light rain, and nothing more than that expected (for now!). i did hear the road between Pinon and Dell City was washed away, so there's that. And of course the Rio Grande valley is filling up. 1

Light rain in my section, but apparently downpours on 3 sides. We did pick this house because it was not in a flood plain. Ate out with friends yesterday before the deluge. In my GOP county it is nice to speak bad of certain bad folks. Staying inside today and tomorrow we’ve flexible plans.

I’ve seen BOAN twice, first time with a crowd 50 years ago. 2nd time was to see my district congressman cooking on the floor of congress. Something rumor mill says he did, but no contemporary source does. I also enjoyed seeing a SC beach with rocks! If you get the beach wrong, then what’s right?

I had to ask what some of these things were, and was told that we had sponge stencils. However since 2nd owner back was a professional artist, ours was done free hand rather than with a sponge.

I saw the menu last week and wasn’t impressed, but then it’s the actual cooking that makes the food. My dad lived in china for a few years after the war, and I only recall one place that he thought the food was authentic (1960s LA) but he happily ate unauthentic.Most US Chinese food is unauthentic
