I’m a big fan of roomettes. Here’s a photo with a 0.5 lens setting on iPhone. With curtains closed to hallway, it’s quite private and enough room to feel cozy, not cramped

As a benefit of booking a roomette, I get to sit in this special seating area that looks suspiciously like the rest of the station—but has a TV. Oh, it also sports a route map so I can plot a future trip further into the interior territory of this continent

And, my trip home is underway. I spent the day a short walk from this Marta station, which I’ll take for 8 minutes south. The train runs every 20 minutes, which is just frequent enough that I didn’t need to pay attention to the schedule

Heading off this evening via Amtrak on a work trip. Though the train is delayed, I rest easy knowing when I board I have a bed waiting for me (a “roomette”). And, a few hours after waking up I’ll be at my destination: Atlanta

I'm pleased to report an even lower number 😀 It's a fun little exercise, though I'm not keen on the use of 'slop' as a term for this metric. And, my dominant field is Information Systems, not Computer Science

When you look closely,
You see that people of the present
Are none other than people of old,
And the functions of the present
Are none other than the functions of the past;
Even going through a thousand changes
And myriad transformations,
Here it is just necessary
For you to recognize it first hand
Before you can attain it.

The Sept map update on Wandrer uploaded yesterday, which took off a tiny map segment not ridable on bike + added paths in Azalea Park and Pen Park that are. I rode those this morning and for the first time have hit 100% on both paved and unpaved routes in Wandrer (up from 99.9% overall) 🎉

For anyone on my side of Cville wondering about all of the sirens. Fire trucks (so many!) arrived at same time I was driving by — I didn't see a fire, but did smell smoke. I hope everyone is ok and damage is limited

And, it's great to see these updates from Richard Southee, director of compliance and continuous improvement for the group (CASS) that the city hired to operate the shelter. The final quote is key: are you, or do you know, a local employer? Jobs are a pathway to housing
Southee said he has been heartened by "the number of yea-sayers" he has encountered in Charlottesville. "I have been amazed by the community response," particularly in terms of volunteers offering help, he said.

A variety of nonprofit groups, including the Building Goodness Foundation and Rivanna Trails Foundation, and a variety of church congregations have been pitching in to unpack supplies and help with other tasks.

"We've had crowds of volunteers over the past few weeks," Southee said.

He said he hopes the shelter can offer people a safe place to stay temporarily while they are finding employment and saving money to secure their own housing.

"The thing I need is jobs," Southee said, adding that he'd love to hear from "anyone who's willing to hire. I will always have clients who want to work, and that's going to be the easiest way out."

Interesting, is there an MOU for roads in the county that the city maintains instead of VDOT? Related: I've been curious who maintains that triangle of grass in Albemarle County that has UVA property on two sides and private property (now, the Verve) on the other side
