I'm in Madrid next week. In terms of what to do it depends how long you're there. The parks are great & free. The Casa de Campo is a favourite, a wilderness not manicured & is huge If you want a long walk looking at architecture head from Sol to Plaza Castilla via Sta. Engracia, Bravo Murillo

The football may be a throw back but, it's a disappointment that they’re no longer in L2 . As a Tranmere supporter, I do enjoy away matches in London, which are few and far between these days.

I was lucky enough to see Kevin Rowland promoting the new Dexy's album "Love" earlier today at Rough Trade, Nottm You never know what you'll get with an "instore" but Kevin, accompanied on keys & a backing track did 45 mins.Mainly the excellent new album, ending with The Waltz, Jackie Wilson & Geno

It'd be funny if they've booked the Spinners from Liverpool as opposed to the ones from Detroit.

They'd probably be showing highlights of the 1971 series, specifically Zaheer Abbas's 274.

I always enjoy going to Brisbane Road but that's probably because they have arguably the best tune to run out to rather than Rovers having much success there. youtu.be/TAn7vEH-SyY?...

A girl in my year at school couldn't say Steven and always called me Steve-ing. I remember that more than when she rubbed her ample boobs in my face at someone's party.

I don't tend to say much at gigs but if I'd answered the questions it would've been; The first day of the football league season, Paper Lace

I'm not offended. It's a progression. When I had more hair someone at an indiepop gig posted on socials that Sinbad (from Brookside) was in the crowd. I saw one of your posts from last night's gig and thought you were the tall bloke with long grey hair standing by the wall.

3/3 Opening the evening were the tremendous @mtmiseryband.bsky.social . A set of lovely jangly pop songs. I'm surprised I've not seen them before and only recently heard them for the first time. A chat afterwards about our shared love of Ronnie Moore topped off the evening.

2/3 Also on the bill were US Highball. Quirky and jangly in true Scottish indiepop tradition. I think the crowd were enjoying it more than the pic suggests.

Great gig at JT Soar in Nottingham last night. Three excellent bands with @hurry.bsky.social topping the bill. It had the feel of one of the old Indietracks Thursday night warm up gigs but without the drunkenness or any of the old crowd (except James). Hurry have some lovely breezy songs. 1/3

All I'll say is having scooped the pigeon into a carrier bag and deposited it in the bin at the bus stop on the main road, about 200m away, she came back and grabbed hold of me in a passionate embrace. My response was, "can you wash your hands before we go any further".

I also have a dead bird phobia. If I had an anonymous account like yourself I could tell the story of the woman at work who offered to move a maggot infested pigeon off my patio in return for sex. As I don't, that's as far as I'll go with the tale.

He isn't short of a bob or two so it was more a case of shifting them en masse rather than receiving a windfall. For me, until the loft collapses under the weight of stuff I've collected, it's a window into English football history that I delve into once in a while.

When my neighbour was moving out and downsizing, a few years ago, he tried to sell his Forest programme collection (early 70s to early 90s ) to dealers. It was mainly home games and he couldn't find any takers as apparently there are are loads in circulation. Thankfully I saved them from the skip

A few years after that game I was at a meeting trying to win some work. There was a photo of the winning Blues team on the bloke's desk. Chatting about the match for 10 or 15 minutes was a great icebreaker. He was in such a good mood by then I think he signed on the dotted line there and then.

Looking at that line-up it's easy to understand why they eventually moved from 23s to 21s. England's line up is more like a B team than a team of young hopefuls.

As was Brian Clough. It's a good job Torvill and Dean are from Nottingham otherwise there'd be no local cultural icons.

I saw them at Sheffield a few years ago. A bloke who I presumed was the Toulouse owner was wandering around the ground during the game wearing what looked like a mayoral chain. I guess his term of office has ended by now.

It's a shame that excise duty rates mean that the UK version of Mahou is only 4.8%. I find the extra kick of 5.5% makes a big difference. I do like their dark Maestra beer but it probably isn't suited to a hot afternoon on a terrazza being 7.5%.

If Burnham is true to his word and wants to significantly reduce the power of the whips, then surely a job with very little to do would suit her perfectly.

2/2 ....the rest of the bill was Crumbs, Helen McCookerybook, Milky Wimpshake and Sassyhiya. All were top notch. I've tried to make the most of my free Saturdays in the football close season and this was as enjoyable as any of them.

There are plenty of indiepop gigs in Sheffield at the moment. Saturday saw an indiepop alldayer which doubled as Elodie's, the organiser's, birthday party. It was at the splendid Channing Hall. Five really enjoyable acts, starting with the Middle Ones(pictured).... 1/2

Given how many musicians have their sheet music on tablets these days I imagine a few will be tempted to flick over to the match when they can.

A trip to Weston Park in Sheffield today to see Loxley Silver Band play a superb programme on the bandstand. They played some modern stuff (Sam Smith, Sombr, Killers) which is great for those just enjoying the good weather. I was last here in 2012 to see Standard Fare as part of Tramlines fringe.

I know there have been lots of rumours about what the NRL would do if it took over English rugby league but the one I'd definitely be up for is a return to a winter season.

Back in the day other than Ken Rosewall and Tony Roche my mother didn't have a good word for any of them. Maybe Nastase was also excluded from criticism. It was preferable to go down to Arrowe Park and queue for a court. You may recall the old bloke who was in charge who was perhaps Hungarian.

When Back In The DHSS was released I was raving about it at work one day, emphasising how funny the lyrics were. Someone who I didn't think was into alternative music asked if I could tape it for him. Having done so, he expressed his disappointment as he expected something like the Grumbleweeds

I was in Bridgford early afternoon and was listening to TMS on BBC Sounds. It was a busy period of appeals, dismissals and reviews and with the stream being about 90 seconds behind the live action it was hard to work out what each bout of cheering was for Much simpler with a tranny tuned into LW

Nottingham has probably rightly earned the mantle of having the best public transport outside metropolitan areas. That was until today when NCT slashed its services. Taking the p***, today's services that pass the end of my road, that no longer run, are still displayed.

Miliband is a good example of why being a career politician needn't be a bad thing. He's got much better at it over the years. The problem is that he like Burnham went for the top job too young . A mistake Streeting may soon repeat.

I take it there'll be a photo or two of Aussie rugby league commentator Andrew Voss in there. He fell in love with the place during the 2013 World Cup and still name checks it to this day.

Possibly not your thing but Santander has an attractive bullring and there are corridas every afternoon between the 18th and 25th July. Morante de la Puebla, who is currently the star turn, is on twice. He is a complex character and has featured in several articles in the English & American press.

This isn't the place to go into detail but there was something similar in my family. At the time (early 1960s) the done thing was to dispose of the baby immediately and remove absolutely any trace of them(cot, clothes, nappies etc) from the house before the bereaved mother returned home. Horrible.
