Steve Mack @stevemack2017.bsky.social · 07/09/2026I was lucky enough to see Kevin Rowland promoting the new Dexy's album "Love" earlier today at Rough Trade, Nottm You never know what you'll get with an "instore" but Kevin, accompanied on keys & a backing track did 45 mins.Mainly the excellent new album, ending with The Waltz, Jackie Wilson & Geno 120
Steve Mack @stevemack2017.bsky.social · 14/08/2026Great gig at JT Soar in Nottingham last night. Three excellent bands with @hurry.bsky.social topping the bill. It had the feel of one of the old Indietracks Thursday night warm up gigs but without the drunkenness or any of the old crowd (except James). Hurry have some lovely breezy songs. 1/3 220
Steve Mack @stevemack2017.bsky.social · 20/07/2026There are plenty of indiepop gigs in Sheffield at the moment. Saturday saw an indiepop alldayer which doubled as Elodie's, the organiser's, birthday party. It was at the splendid Channing Hall. Five really enjoyable acts, starting with the Middle Ones(pictured).... 1/2 110
Steve Mack @stevemack2017.bsky.social · 12/07/2026A trip to Weston Park in Sheffield today to see Loxley Silver Band play a superb programme on the bandstand. They played some modern stuff (Sam Smith, Sombr, Killers) which is great for those just enjoying the good weather. I was last here in 2012 to see Standard Fare as part of Tramlines fringe. 000
Steve Mack @stevemack2017.bsky.social · 04/07/2026I don't often associate one of these with a winning team. A 52-0 win for Widnes at Goole in the battle of the Vikings. 010
Steve Mack @stevemack2017.bsky.social · 26/06/2026I was in Bridgford early afternoon and was listening to TMS on BBC Sounds. It was a busy period of appeals, dismissals and reviews and with the stream being about 90 seconds behind the live action it was hard to work out what each bout of cheering was for Much simpler with a tranny tuned into LW 010
Steve Mack @stevemack2017.bsky.social · 21/06/2026Nottingham has probably rightly earned the mantle of having the best public transport outside metropolitan areas. That was until today when NCT slashed its services. Taking the p***, today's services that pass the end of my road, that no longer run, are still displayed. 000
Reposted by Steve MackAye @chazzersmurf.bsky.social · 15/06/2026Thanks to overwhelming demand from one person ( @sr1990.bsky.social ) I decided to run all the Nottingham bridges over the Trent. Took 9.5 miles, but worth it to quash those bridge obsession rumours. Bridges in east to west order, with top facts, follow in the thread. 7721
Steve Mack @stevemack2017.bsky.social · 10/06/2026Athletics from Oslo is currently on BBC3. For those of a certain age that means Tom Byers winning the 1500m as a pacemaker at the Bislett Games in 1981. 010
Steve Mack @stevemack2017.bsky.social · 08/06/2026It's not often I hear something on 6 Music these days from an artist I've not heard of & immediately check them out. Steve Lamacq played Butterfly by Creepy Crawly today which is great and the rest of the album , released last week, is also worth a listen. creepycrawly.bandcamp.com/album/i-feel...creepycrawly.bandcamp.comI Feel It On My Skin, by Creepy Crawly11 track album 010
Steve Mack @stevemack2017.bsky.social · 23/05/2026Great gig at the Big Difference(formerly The Cookie) in Leicester on Thursday night. @theloftuk.bsky.social played a storming set featuring tracks from the last two albums and classics from days gone by. I'm probably preaching to the converted but the new album is really worth checking out. 220
Steve Mack @stevemack2017.bsky.social · 21/05/2026The first time I've been to a gig where the stage times have firstly been pushed back in the hope that more people will turn up, then moved again due to people complaining that they'd bought tickets based on the last train times. 110

That way, if anyone says "There were two million there" you could point out Wembley only holds 90,000. 1655
Steve Mack @stevemack2017.bsky.social · 15/05/2026I quite enjoy the play-offs when I'm a neutral and can watch everyone else suffering for 90 minutes. 000

Steve Mack @stevemack2017.bsky.social · 27/04/2026A trip to Sheffield on Friday to see Lande Hekt, who wasn't on at the Crucible. The gig was at Mary St Live, an excellent venue that I was visiting for the first time. Support was from Bethan Robinson and Mumble Tide who were both really enjoyable. 1/2 130
Steve Mack @stevemack2017.bsky.social · 22/03/2026A great gig at Sidney & Matilda in Sheffield on Saturday night. A @skepwax.bsky.social double bill with Tulpa supporting @heavenlyamelia.bsky.social . A new venue for me which I really liked. I've now seen Tulpa three times. They were much louder than before which worked really well. 171
Steve Mack @stevemack2017.bsky.social · 09/03/2026The Lexington in north London is a favourite gig venue of mine. On Sunday it hosted a sell out @skepwax.bsky.social matinee double bill with Heavenly showcasing their new album supported by the Cords I'd not seen the Cords before but they were everything I expected them to be. Steve Mack @stevemack2017.bsky.social · 09/01/2026In one of my first jobs, one of the managers in the office was a bloke in his early 60s. At lunchtime his secretary, aged 21, would often sit on his knee and they'd have a cuddle. Most of my colleagues thought it was normal behaviour. 040
Steve Mack @stevemack2017.bsky.social · 29/12/2025May '91. On the M1 in going to watch Tranmere at Brentford in the play-offs. Blue & white scarf on the back shelf Car pulls up alongside. Bloke gesticulates to me. I wind my window down. "Are you a City fan?", he asks. I reply I'm a Tranmere fan. Good luck he says. It was Alex "Hurricane" Higgins 010
Steve Mack @stevemack2017.bsky.social · 01/12/2025Great gig last night at the Lexington. It was Tulpa's album launch and they went down a storm. A really impressive band. Excellent support from @skepwax.bsky.social label mates Sassyhiya plus The Early Mornings, who I also enjoyed. Nice to have a brief chat with Amelia & Rob before the gig. 151
Steve Mack @stevemack2017.bsky.social · 08/10/2025Great gig last night at the Old Cold Store in Nottingham. The return of @allodarlin.bsky.social off the back of releasing a new album. The old and new songs went down equally well in a packed out venue. Let's hope this mini-tour isn't the end of the reunion. 1/3 181

Steve Mack @stevemack2017.bsky.social · 06/12/2024I quite like the idea but I'd split the county so that Rushcliffe, Gedling and Broxtowe join with the city as Notts South. More likely to get tram extensions & houses built in the right places.
