The original Duo is still bang up to date with Play System September 2026, which arrived today, albeit belatedly. (Yes, Android core is still at 12L, but that was pretty rock solid by the time it got frozen). Anyway, go check your older devices!!

Steve Litchfield @stevelitchfield.bsky.social · 01/09/2026

...Not so good for me personally and why I won’t be buying one is that, obviously, there’s no telephoto and no Face ID (my thumbprint is shot). But those are just personal preferences. I predict the Ultra will do very well. On contract or lease, of course, because of the £2000+ price tag.

010

Steve Litchfield @stevelitchfield.bsky.social · 01/09/2026

..., which is excellent news for proper stereo when watching videos… in any position. Well done Apple. I’m also interested to note that the iPhone Ultra is even shorter than the Z Fold 8, ie more widescreen when unfolded....

110

Steve Litchfield @stevelitchfield.bsky.social · 01/09/2026

Yay for stereo! (iPhone Ultra) I know, I know, we’re still a week away from launch, but after the Samsung Z Fold 8 speaker facepalm (both speakers on the left screen), I am happy to report that the imminent folding iPhone will have speakers top left and bottom right (Surface Duo 2 style)...

Well done on your new strategy for having adverts at about 1 minute 15 seconds in length because it means that my standard skip 30 seconds plus 30 seconds still gives me a bit of the advert without wasting too much time, it's a perfect setup for listeners and advertisers!

It’s also rubbish, of course. Bit of a scam epidemic. I cut them off immediately now by saying that they need to go through ‘security’ with me if they really are from Three. Eg what’s my postcode? This is where they hang up. Sigh. What a world we live in, eh?

There’s a huge flaw in the Apple Watch ecosystem, in that they have all these wonderful sports represented, but not dog walking. When you’ve been dog walking for an hour pulling on the lead and being pulled by the lead in and out of muddy puddles in the rain…

An exercise in Clean-Up The hotel in Sonning, cross crossed in reality with phone wiring across the road, as you can see if you go there! But here shown after multiple strokes in Apple Photo’s Clean Up tool. Very impressed. Is it as good as Samsung’s or Google’s Magic Eraser tools? Debatable. Still…
