I met @patflynn.bsky.social back in 2013 at a conference - dork bloggers with a mutual admiration and love of Nerd culture. He’s built lots of businesses, & his recent project, @deeppocketmonster.bsky.social , has EXPLODED. Pat’s new book, “Lean Learning” is out this week! Congrats man!

Now THAT’s a movie. Just saw Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners.” A “horror” action film…kinda? But so so much more, with way more depth than expected, with some jaw-dropping sequences. Ludwig Görannson’s soundtrack absolutely CRUSHES. Go see it on a big ass screen with a big crowd & stay thru the credits!

Replaying one of my favorite games for the first time in 13 years: Shadow of the Colossus. Not sure if it’s due te remade graphics and/or me being older, but I just took down my first Colossus and it hit me harder than expected. I’m now sad! It’s amazing how much emotion this game conveys.

Years ago, I saw this sign while hiking at Crater Lake, OR It's a pretty damn good lesson for life. In health, business, relationships, writing, & art, there's no true substitute for putting in actual, authentic work over many months and years. Some things can't be hacked without causing erosion.

Big week for unique POV films. Saw “Nickel Boys” earlier this week. Faithful to the book, thus absolutely devastating and heartbreaking. Beautiful film though. Just saw “Presence” - not what I had expected, but it builds up and up for the entirety of its short runtime. Enjoyed both!

This is hilarious. This is my heart rate after finally defeating one of the mid game bosses in Nine Sols. This game is like a streamlined Hollow Knight on steroids. I might pull a muscle on the next boss!

Just finished reading Colson Whitehead's "The Nickel Boys." Shocking, heartbreaking, and really damn good. After hearing about the unique perspective from which the film adaptation is shot, I cannot wait to see this movie (probably next week!)

Gamers! Especially if you love: -Hollow Knight -Sekiro -Metroid Dread -other tough metroidvanias PLAY NINE SOLS. This game is crazy good, beautiful, weird, and hard as hell. It’s 2D Sekiro, essentially. I’m shocked at how good this is, and that more people aren’t taking about it.

“It’s an 86 minute cartoon about a cat, with no dialogue…how emotional can this be?” 86 minutes later, sitting in silence through the credits, tears streaming down my face. Damn. That was one of the best movies I’ve seen this year. I’m still thinking about it 5 days later. Go see FLOW.
