I defined that criteria as having a unique ID and being searchable by author/project name rather than all content and metadata being searchable. The scenario I set up was: if an author registered multiple possible plans and deleted all but one, would there be some evidence of the deletion?

"As of this writing, that process [of retraction] is ongoing." I don't understand what takes time in a retraction. Write a couple sentences saying the authors requested a retraction, update the DOI metadata, add a banner to the PDF, and what else???
Finally, it should be noted that when we shared these posts with Ariely and Wertenbroch a few weeks ago, they reached out to Psychological Science to request that the article be retracted. As of this writing, that process is ongoing.

Unbiased but noisy! Great post by @gelliottmorris.com. While outcomes are necessarily dichotomous, predictions and the reliability of polling are often reported that way too. Polling can be both noisy and still informative.
I modified the noisy correlation graph to show red dots when the vote direction flips relative to the prediction.

I was hesitant to watch the series version of "What We Do in the Shadows" because I loved the movie so much. But it's excellent! The Collin Robinson character is genius. He's an energy vampire who feeds off of people's boredom and frustration. Here he is feasting at a city council meeting:
Man with eyes glowing and mouth agape

Like most things in vision: salience ~ size * luminance contrast (The image is also manipulating font-weight (bold) and character spacing, which contribute to size and contrast in less clear ways.) When size and contrast aren't correlated, it gets interesting...

Great editorial! Minor correction though: "our introduced change stops short of making data and code sharing mandatory in line with the TOP Level 3 standards" The current policy stops short of TOP Level *2* standards.
Table of top standards showing that level 2 has mandatory transparency.

This is the most French thing ever. Paris is banning car traffic from a large region of the city... but look at all the exceptions! So basically, it's the same as before but now with a fuckton of bureaucracy and vague arbitrary enforcement. source: www.thelocal.fr/20241031/par...
People who live or work in the ZTL are exempt but so are people with a disability, anyone who is making a delivery, people visiting shops, art galleries, theatres, cinemas, restaurants or other leisure venues, plus anyone in the zone for a medical appointment or to visit friends.

Buses, taxis and VTCs (such as Uber) are exempt as well as breakdown recovery vehicles, while emergency vehicles are also exempt.

More often than not, the last answer is more accurate
How might data visualization help you communicate complex ideas?

Data visualization simplifies complex information so that it is more accessible to a wider audience.

Data visualization forces the audience to learn how to understand data.

Data visualization doesn't help communicate ideas. People should be able to understand raw numbers.

Graphs and charts are pretty. It's as simple as that.

Summary by @stephaniemlee.bsky.social of the biggest problem
documents that have been posted online since publication make clear that the study was initially conceived to explore another subject altogether. And when their hypothesis did not pan out, the scholars appeared to overhaul their paper’s focus while playing down their original intentions.
