A real tragedy for his poor family, friends, the school and community. And pretty sobering for Sheffield-based parents of a 15-year-old www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cd...

The only thing better than Wednesday and Everton winning away on the same day is reading the moaning and whinging of the opposition managers after. As if none of their teams would ever take time out of the game when winning away 😝

On the positive side, my ticket for the FA Cup match away to Coventry has just arrived #swfc

Well the worst on a bad night was at 7.45pm he said he wasn’t concerned about Southampton recalling Shea Charles and by midnight they had done 🤦🏻

100

Steve Chu @stevechu.bsky.social · 16/01/2025

I don’t think DR is in a strong position. When chairmen think their manager has got too big for their boots, they tend to sack them

100

Steve Chu @stevechu.bsky.social · 16/01/2025

Lots would be interested in buying us but none at the price he wants 🙁

100

Steve Chu @stevechu.bsky.social · 16/01/2025

I’ve woken up to reports that Southampton recalled Shea Charles only 4 hours after this abomination and I can’t help feeling it’s directly linked. If true, that is purely on DC and we should all be livid about that

220

Steve Chu @stevechu.bsky.social · 15/01/2025

Finally, WTAF will Röhl have made of that? We’ve all seen some breakdowns in communication between a football manager and a chairman before. There’s only ever one outcome, and it’s not the one we want 3/3

230

Steve Chu @stevechu.bsky.social · 15/01/2025

Even if I had the greatest communicator in the world as a leader, I would be extremely nervous about putting them in front of an event like that. If I had someone as desperately terrible as DC, I would beg him not to do it, and wouldn’t sleep for nights beforehand if he did 2/3

I tried so hard not to follow the text updates from the #SWFC fans forum but, you know, it was gripping in a hide-behind-the-sofa kind of way even though we’ve watched it before. My main thought, going back to my Head of Comms days… 1/3

Interesting data piece on charitable giving from The Sunday Times (£). Good news for my Trustee role at Weston Park Cancer Charity. Confirmation of the bad news my former friends and colleagues in Age UK charities already know about www.thetimes.com/article/0216...

Our hopes of the play-offs lie in the top 4 getting away and leaving us in a foot race for 5th and 6th. So today I am unashamedly for Cardiff, Swansea, Burnley and 🐷 #swfc

You can’t tell FFP accurately from the accounts. I think both %s are probably less but if we don’t go up and Röhl leaves in the summer we’re likely back down to 0% for the foreseeable future!

Steve Chu @stevechu.bsky.social · 02/01/2025

This sort of decision-making explains why we win so many games late on (along with taking the occasional thrashing)

150

Steve Chu @stevechu.bsky.social · 02/01/2025

A thought about yesterday (when I can stop watching Windass’ goal over again). At 1-0 most managers would have put defenders on to sit on the lead. Röhl takes off Bannan and goes 4-2-4 with Musaba, Gassama, and Windass behind Smith. Within 5 minutes it was 3-0. Cojones #swfc

Steve Chu @stevechu.bsky.social · 20/12/2024

I’ve no doubt it will happen. But it’s DC’s job to make that decision. It’s not a fans’ rep’s job to advocate for it! There are plenty of other under-performing income streams to go at first

010

Steve Chu @stevechu.bsky.social · 19/12/2024

Seems beyond belief that a Sheffield Wednesday fans representative would advocate higher ticket price increases for over-65s, 17-20s, Armed Forces, Disabled and Students to protect prices for others

Will probably be making my last ever trip to Goodison for the FA Cup tie with Posh on Thu 9th. Anyone going from Sheffield and interested in a lift share?

302

Steve Chu @stevechu.bsky.social · 16/12/2024

I agree, although I’m not sure he gets either of those jobs. I guess he may look ahead to next August and wonder which will put him in the best position. A Wednesday team he is building. A Saints team with parachute payments. Or a Premier League team if one will take him

010

Steve Chu @stevechu.bsky.social · 16/12/2024

I guess there is also the angle that they are even more certain to go down than we were last season so is it that appealing for Danny right now?

000

Steve Chu @stevechu.bsky.social · 13/12/2024

Doesn’t mean they’re right though!

100

Steve Chu @stevechu.bsky.social · 11/12/2024

I agree with you on both counts. It’s also not clear that Valery is better than Valentin. I’m not sure I want DC to splash out even if he could, given our existing debts. But I think if he doesn’t, Röhl will be gone within 12 months and that will be our last prospect of promotion for a long time

100

Steve Chu @stevechu.bsky.social · 11/12/2024

I would add that, even then, Chansiri would have to sell immediately after promotion for his time to end well. And also that a January gamble is not necessarily in the best long term interests of the club (because it’s highly likely to fail)

100

Steve Chu @stevechu.bsky.social · 11/12/2024

I’ve always been opposed to reckless overspending on players. But in my opinion Chansiri has a 1% chance of his #swfc tenure ending well. And that 1% is probably entirely represented by putting all his chips on the January window and betting the house on Röhl miraculously getting us up this season
