Capital always out works labor. The people who benefit from that fact don’t want you to know it. In fact they want to make sure you derive your self worth from labor then convince you to spend what you do earn on consumption because “you deserve it.” It keeps you broke and them wealthy.

I think about this all the time. The avg car payment in the US is ~$800/month. Over 13 years that money compounded annually at 8% is ~$206k. The truth that tells is most parents say they’d die for their kids but most of them won’t drive a beater to pay for their college education. Actions > Words

I love listening to elected politicians who are actively doing nothing try to convince voters not to vote for the other guy because they also will in fact do nothing too.

We removed the compilers from the servers to make them more secure. Now we're racing to put the compilers back with tools that can generate their own code and use them.

Muse is Zuckerberg's latest attempt to control the next platform. He hates what happened to Facebook when the mobile platforms became the primary way his companies platform was accessed. They lost too much control. Every bet they make maps on to the desire to have that never happen again.

AGI is here but the best we can do with it is launch a collaborative productivity suite. Noice.

I'm convinced that "I am going to re-architect" something is code for "I can't figure out or don't want to figure out how the existing thing works."

For the love of god just write the damn tests. It really isn’t that deep or that hard. If you later decide you can make the test better make it better. If later you decide you don’t need it then delete it. Why in 2026 is anyone still debating whether or not to write tests.

The more time I spend away from social media the better life feels even though nothing measurably changed in my life. I think that is a strong signal.

Testing, documentation, transparency, philanthropy, etc. Really can be anything as concrete as how you run meetings to as aspirational as how you treat coworkers and clients.

Crazy how the vast majority of online communities just become essentially a "cool kids table" and then a bunch of other people trying to get a seat at that same table.

Trying to retroactively write tests for code that was not authored to be testable is a really big pain in statically typed languages.

I just have to ask the question...if your AI features are so useful and world changing why do you have to prompt users every time they open your app to use them? I'm looking at you Google docs. I know Gemini exists please stop telling me it does.

I'd love to have the new iPhone duo, but man for that type of money I'd honestly rather have a new computer or server. I guess if your phone is your only compute device and you do everything with it you can probably justify the expense to some extent

If you still don't think US politics are a fucking joke, go watch that video of them wheeling Mitch McConnell to that car. Like c'mon...I respect him as a human being, but there is a time for us all where we have to step aside and he is well past that time.

I am far more interested in having something than the appearance of having that same thing. I want a good marriage not the appearance of one. I want a strong relationship with my kids not the appearance of one. I want to be wealthy not appear so.

For all the tooling the JS ecosystem has produced over the last 20 years, it is still a painful experience every time dependencies need updated and migrated.

It means if you actually want to get wealthy you've got to spend less than you make and invest the difference in things that you can own and will increase in value. Most people invest in businesses they own and operate themselves, real estate, stocks, bonds, and/or some combination of those.

The largest financial lesson I have learned in the last decade is you can’t earn your way to wealth. You must own your way there. What you decide to own is debatable and an incredibly personal choice.

The software engineering profession is absolutely littered with the “no true Scotsman” problem and AI has only amplified it. I’d recommend not chasing other people’s opinions and instead develop your own that you feel good about articulating and defending. You are also always free to change them.

“I think that every time you see the word EBITDA, you should substitute the words 'bullshit earnings” I’d say there is a new acronym that Mr. Munger would also have issue with - EBTIT (Earnings Before Training, Interest, and Taxes).

I’m seeing this theory circulate about the “AI is gonna kill us all” events this week being the open salvo in an attempt to get taxpayer money involved in these companies. I’m not sure I think that is more likely than what I’ve said before, but at this point nothing would surprise me.

What the hell are “season futures”? @espn.com is showing them on graphic overlays on NFL Sunday Countdown. This sports betting thing is going to be such an issue in the future.
