St. Vincent Covers Yeah Yeah Yeahs At Gabriela Hearst’s Spring 2027 Runway Show
St. Vincent was at Paris Fashion Week on Monday to provide a live soundtrack for Gabriela Hearst's spring 2027 collection, which was inspired by Afghan women’s textile traditions. Annie Clark's stripped down four-song set in the courtyard of the Petit Palais included three of her own tunes — it was bracketed by _MASSEDUCTION_ singles "New York" and "Los Ageless" and featured "Violent Times" from 2024's _All Born Screaming_ — but most notably, she covered the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. FKA Twigs Released From NDA With Shia LaBeouf, Drops Lawsuit
FKA twigs settled her sexual battery lawsuit against ex-boyfriend Shia LaBeouf last year, then filed another lawsuit this year regarding a non-disclosure agreement in the original settlement. The suit seeking release from the NDA was sparked by an arbitration demand from LaBeouf's legal team after twigs (real name Tahliah Barnett) told an interviewer she didn't feel safe during her relationship with LaBeouf. Justin Timberlake Apologizes For Past Beatboxing
As far back as he can remember, Justin Timberlake always wanted to be a human beatbox. Even in his *NSYNC days, Timberlake would take every available opportunity to go dorm-room Rahzel on the world. Maybe he was doing it even _before_ then. Maybe he was getting spit all over his hands on _The Mickey Mouse Club_. I'm not a deep enough Timberlake scholar to know the extent of it. But by the time he reached international fame, Timberlake would think nothing of giving himself a _pshh-ficky-hugga-hugga_ showcase for entire minutes at a time, as he did during *NSYNC's HBO special in 2000. Tom Morello Clarifies He Does Vote, Just Not For “Corporate Democrats”
Last weekend, former Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello held his star-studded one-day Power To The People festival at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland. Before the show, Morello did a _Rolling Stone_ interview, and he went viral for saying that he "certainly did not" vote for Kamala Harris. Peel Dream Magazine Announce Expanded Taurus: Hear “Blind Faith”
We last heard from Joe Stevens' oft-morphing musical project Peel Dream Magazine about a year ago with the release of the mini-album _Taurus_. Today he's announced an expanded edition, which I guess brings it to regular album size. This will mark the first time _Taurus_ is released on vinyl. “How To Save A Life” Singer Opens For Ed Sheeran, Says People Need To See “Both Sides”
You may have heard that Ed Sheeran recently lost all his opening acts. After Macklemore ruffled feathers by using his platform as Sheeran's opening act to advocate for a free Palestine, Sheeran capitulated to his friend Robert Kraft and other stadium owners by kicking Macklemore off his tour, then shared self-pitying statements online and onstage. All of the rest of Sheeran's support acts dropped off the tour in solidarity, as did Sheeran's backing band. At his first show back, Sheeran performed without an opening act, but he's since found at least one performer willing to share a stage with him. French Oi Crew Squelette Release Extremely Cool New EP Soir d’Orage
I'm not sure how or why this happened, but the nation of France has developed its own take on oi, the chant-along street-punk style that once seemed definitively British. French bands like Syndrome 81, Prisonnier Du Temps, Oi Boys, and Rancoeur have developed an echo-drenched take on oi that combines the original music with goth and post-punk, creating a dank, mysterious, and incredibly cool sound. Its influence is spreading, as bands like Quebec's Béton Armé and Edmonton's Home Front seem to be drawing from some of the same same wells. Prevention Announce Debut Album And Nothing’s Mine: Hear “Tell Yourself”
Springfield, Illinois' Prevention have been cranking out righteous, passionate straight-edge hardcore since 2019. They play fast, in an orthodox old-school youth crew style, but they seem to _mean it_ so much that they never feel like they're just imitating the old bands that they love. Omni’s Philip Frobos Shares New Sorry & Jane Birkin Covers
In 2021, Omni's Philip Frobos released his debut solo album _Vague Enough To Satisfy_. Since then, he's been busy with the Atlanta post-punk band, who released _Souvenir_ in 2024 and is currently celebrating the anniversary of their debut album _Deluxe_ with a (you guessed it) deluxe version. Now he's back to sharing solo stuff, and this time it's covers of Sorry's 2024 tune "Waxwing" and Jane Birkin's 1973 track "Kawasaki." Hear Anna Domino’s Previously Unreleased “Happy To Go” From New East And West Reissue
In 1984, Anna Domino released the five-track mini-album _East And West_ on Les Disques du Crépuscule, the Belgian indie label that often collaborated with Tony Wilson's renowned Factory Records. The Tokyo-born artist was living in downtown New York and communicating the aura of the neighborhood through swimmy avant-pop daydreams. Now, _East And West_ is getting a reissue from, appropriately, Domino. St. Louis Man Discovers His Father Is Michael McDonald
Imagine finding out, deep into middle age, that you're the son of the honey-gargling king of yacht rock. Michael Goessling, a St. Louis resident, recently had just such an experience when he found out that he's Michael McDonald's son. For his whole life, Goessling knew that he was adopted. His parents conceived him when both of them were 14 years old, and he was put up for adoption as an infant. But Goessling didn't learn until much later that one of his parents grew up to become Michael McDonald. The post St. Louis Man Discovers His Father Is Michael McDonald appeared first on Stereogum.
