Crazy how he got into the job. Raimondo goes to Biden admin. McKee moved up. BUT he barely won LT Gov primary in 2018 as the incumbent. Rhode Island almost had a 31 year as Gov in 2021!

Love that Gotham was just a basic fill in city name in 1930s media. And then Batman randomly used it and the term has become that City Idea sparked by watching Baby Face (1933) and they go to “Gotham Trust”
Two women characters in hats standing outside a sign that says “Gotham Trust Company - Founded 1873”. The movie is Baby Face (1933). A film set to enter the American public domain in 2029.

I took this Polaroid photo a few days ago at a jazz show and I’m quite happy with it
Two jazz musicians playing at a jazz show. The one on the right is playing an Alto Sax in a red-pink jacket. The one on the left is playing keyboard. They’re surrounded by inky darkness.

Literally what they promised when getting elected www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcn...
A screenshot of an NBC News article headline that reads, “Elon Musk asks voters to brace for economic ‘hardship,’ deep spending cuts in potential Trump Cabinet role.” Below the headline, there’s a subheading noting that Donald Trump wants Musk, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO, to oversee government “efficiency” efforts. The photo shows Elon Musk speaking at a podium wearing a dark jacket, a T-shirt, and a baseball cap that says “Make America Great Again,” with colorful blurred lights behind him at Madison Square Garden. The article is credited to Rob Wile and Lora Kolodny of CNBC and dated October 30, 2024.

A novel with the test “The Gatsby Gambit”. It has green and black ribbons with half a woman’s face with a teardrop earring. It is by Claire Anderson-Wheeler. Also part of a Winnie-the-Pooh tattoo based on Disney’s design can be seen to the left.

Image titled "Reader’s Choice: My Ballot" from the New York Times feature The 100 Best Movies of the 21st Century. It displays a personal ballot of ten selected films, each with a movie poster, title, and year of release. The chosen films are arranged in two columns:

Left column:

Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) – action-packed desert chase with Max and Furiosa.

Hundreds of Beavers (2024) – absurdist comedy featuring a trapper and a horde of cartoonish beavers.

The Nice Guys (2016) – buddy comedy set in 1970s LA, starring Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe.

Before Sunset (2004) – intimate romantic sequel set in Paris, part of Richard Linklater’s trilogy.

Monsters, Inc. (2001) – animated Pixar classic about monsters harvesting children’s screams.

Right column:

Asteroid City (2023) – Wes Anderson’s pastel sci-fi comedy about grief and performance.

Knives Out (2019) – modern whodunit with a twisty plot and colorful ensemble cast.

Ocean’s Eleven (2001) – slick Las Vegas heist film featuring George Clooney and Brad Pitt.

Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018) – high-octane spy thriller with Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt.

Oppenheimer (2023) – Christopher Nolan’s intense biopic of the atomic bomb’s creator.

There’s a Mickey Mouse comic storyline from 1930 related to egg robberies. Will definitely love to highlight these stories next year for public domain day. Here’s a panel from the storyline on October 27, 1930. #mickeymouse #publicdomain #comic
A series of Mickey Mouse comic panels.

Black-and-white comic strip by Floyd Gottfredson featuring Minnie Mouse’s father as a farmer. In the first panel, he drives a tractor pulling a large haystack under a full moon, saying, “By gum! I can’t understand why we didn’t get any eggs last night—sure tough when we’re dependin’ on ’em to tide us through this season of poor crops!” In the second panel, he and another farmer feed pigs, and he continues, “Couldn’t ’a come at a worse time, either—what with interest on the mortgage due, the mowin’ machine t’ pay for, and Minnie’s education t’ worry about—” In the third panel, he walks toward the chicken coop with a lantern, puzzled: “’S funny, too—I never heard of a whole flock of hens t’ all quit layin’ at once—sure hope it ain’t happened again tonight!” In the final panel, he opens the coop and exclaims, “Well, I’ll be gol durned—what d’ja know about that! T’night there’s bushels of ’em!” The coop is overflowing with eggs, while chickens rest contentedly on the piles.

All published books from 1929 and before are PD in the US. Including 1928’s House at Pooh Corner. He wears the shirt in chapter 3 of the original book as seen in this iconic image.
