The Facial Expressions of Tethys by artist Julius von Bismarck. A suspended high-sea buoy that moves in real time. Sensors on a twin buoy out in the Atlantic Ocean send live satellite data to motors inside the museum. This makes the indoor buoy copy the exact, real-time movements of the ocean waves.

many thanks @johntonta.bsky.social for sending me the beautifully crafted pamphlet about cement fields' slow-burn 'intertidal allotment' work by andrew merritt. such a big fan of this project, so fantastic to hear there's another five years of funding in place. www.cementfields.org/projects/and...

it seems to me (from the partial conversations i overhear) that most of the tables in most of the bars in exeter currently contain at least one university academic suffering significant anguish

I know this isn't terrorism. You know this isn't terrorism. The authorities know this isn't terrorism. But, once again, they have labelled protesters "terrorists", as part of the long-running programme to ensure that no one dares protest about anything any more. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

Have said this before, but if Manchester is "North" in Andy Burnham's language and imagination, where does that leave the 26 million of us in UK who live North of Manchester? Are we north of the north? (And btw, I love + have spent lots of time in Manchester, Newcastle, Warrington, etc)

these are key examples of the downright dirty, difficult and impossible to ignore artists that will no longer be generated under current plans to erode the drama programme at the university of exeter

one of the managers of my city centre local is an artist, and he's painting a large canvas next to the bar. on it is a landscape. a river valley, with mountains and sky in the distance. he never seems happy with it though, so every time i go in it's significantly different. i hope this never stops.

lately, a man on a cart drawn by a shire horse passes me at least twice a day. heading south down exeter's queen street, past central station, then turning west down past my house. soon stopping to pick up a woman, before retracing his route. he often repeats this later to drop her off. clip clop.

A please @labouruk.bsky.social, stop saying that it's up to us to stop Reform. YOU could stop a Reform government in 2029, by introducing the proportional representation so many in the country have been clamouring for. The only way Farage can win is through our crazy first-past-the-post system.
