Sunday’s are for R&D #SandwichSky. I like to go in early, cut on some jazz (today’s selection was Charlie Parker), and get to it. Worked on the second, more refined version of a horseradish aioli this morning, among other things.

The prep line in a commercial kitchen. A cup of really strong coffee sits among containers of garlic confit, Worcestershire sauce, whole grain mustard, garlic oil, and various spices.

I often credit yoga as the one thing that kept me grounded and helped me overcome 20 years of cigarettes and, at the time, an insane amount of benzos and other medications that they kept trying out on me. Life took over and yoga eventually fell by the wayside. This dropped in my lap yesterday.

7 months ago, Thanksgiving week, I first met Bandit with her 2 teenagers. I could tell that she was pregnant at the time. Today, I met those kits. To say that I’m happy is an understatement.

Blackberries always remind me of my childhood. I’ve got a nice little crop coming in. We would walk down to the pond near my grandparent’s house and there was a huge, wild blackberry bush that would come back stronger every year. I hope these are tasty.
