The most subversive TV detective is Inspectors Barnaby from Midsomer Murders. No trauma nor dependency issues, happy family life, professional and neurotypical.

The lack of a distinct second person plural in English has never bothered me, as one can always use the third person with the impersonal pronoun to gets ones point across.

M. Before (s)he became head of MI6, (s)he was a spy. Because of the fucked up Bond timeline, it is set in the 17th Century. Starring Tom Holland and Thomasin McKenzie as the title character in alternating scenes.

Red and green together are by far the stupidest colours to use for any serious application, and the fact we do so is largely because it is very difficult to make blue with a yellow flamed parrafin lamp (a blue filter just makes a green light).

The Canadian are on the cusp of being as inconsistent as us Brits. We need to increase our lead. I suggest that UK needs to start giving the weather temperature in Gas Mark, and cook in degrees DeLisle. If that doesn't work, we'll have to start selling petrol in quarts.

I was once asked to come up with a colour to represent diversity. Perfectly normal thing in my line of work, except I was the only straight white male in my section. And I am colour blind.

Still playing First Light. Honestly, it is growing on me. It is a bit weird - from a gameplay standpoint it is clearly better when it is being more on the Hitman side of "Hitman meets Bond". I quite like the villain's motivation - it makes sense but is also somehow funny.

Playing the 007 First Light (because I cannot afford the Omega I want to really indulge in my middle aged Bond fantasies). So far pretty good, but there are so many annoying little nit picks in some of the dialogue and story elements.

Currently wearing two neckerchief to beat the heat - one around my neck and one around the noggin. I look like some sort of awful clothing experiment that occured when someone put Quentin Crisp and Tupac Shakur in the Large Sartorial Collider.

Oh, God, Youtube has looped back round to showing me watch youtubers again. This means I once again I now have several tabs open for high end watch companies selling watches I cannot quite afford nor justify the need for. And also a tab open with a list of nearby Post Offices with poor security.

Once again, I am saying: complete HS2. Make it steam hauled. I promise there is logic to it. Admittedly, some of it is "Adam West's Batman solving a puzzle left by the Riddler" logic. But it makes more sense than the current plan.

I have to admit, this is pretty cool; these islands are bloody blustery, and Tristan is very easy to miss (and they seemed to have managed to pinpoint the landing somewhere sensible - not, say, on top of Queen Mary's Peak or something)

I think one element here is that E&W actually does the separation pretty well. Up to & inc. KS3 the general idea is to teach kids important milestones in an age appropriate fashion, whilst encouraging interest. After that it becomes an optional subject, and focusses on the historian's skills element

(Looks at comments) How is that this Brit knows that these are the Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps, and not some inappropriate thing that the current President invented? They wear red, as per the old tradition that musicians wore coats of facing colours and facings of coat colours.

It's scary to think if they had chosen Osborne, there would probably be no scandal. Starmer could have continued his programme, making Jack Straw Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, Michael Gove the Commander of 617 Squadron RAF, and David Blunkett the Chief Medical Officer of Guy's Hospital

The world is stupid, but I just watched a squirrel break into a car in the parking lot below me, steal a package of crackers, and escape to a nearby tree. So at least somebody is winning.
Photograph of a car with a squirrel inside of it, perched on the steering wheel. The car is the color of champaign at a beige convention, and the squirrel is the color of squirrels. The squirrel is holding a package of crackers in it's mouth. They are the kind like you get at a restaurant, where you get two crackers wrapped in plastic.

The driver's side window is slightly cracked. This is how the squirrel got in, and how it got out. It threw the crackers out first, and then climbed out after them. Everything in this operation suggested that this was not the squirrel's first rodeo.A closeup of the squirrel sitting on the steering wheel. The squirrel deserves a name, so we'll call her Anjeloma, and she's what you might call a winner. She is still squirrel colored. The crackers are white, and labeled "Zest." As if Anjeloma needed more zest. Squirrel, please.

You can't see much of the car, but you can see smudges of grunge at the edges of the windshield, where the wipers have cast aside the debris of previous rains and pollen-falls.
