Wrote about the Holborn by-election for The Critic. Short version: Labour is running a boring campaign, the Greens are running a nice one, and in this seat of all seats, nice is a strategic error. Also, as a Greek, I have a grievance. thecritic.co.uk/bait-blunder...

Labour gave them the most fiscally conservative chancellor of the last decade, they still use the same line. Labour needs to tax and borrow to save the country. I would say do it even if it means being a one term goverment but in reality this is the only thing that would get us re-elected.

This from @compassoffice.bsky.social was great. “We didn't defeat the BNP by running after it.”

To save democracy, we need to: BAN algorithmic social media, RESTRICT political donations, FUND local journalism, and MANDATE voting in elections

The radical right have stolen the centre left's clothes – but it's not too late to fight back
Keir Starmer's honeymoon was non-existent. Across the world, progressive parties face the same search for new answers.

ARC and its adjacent ideological bubbles include people with good intentions, good ideas even. But when the “movement” it builds points towards supporting a political force that supports authoritarianism you have to ask, is “killing the woke mind virus” worth the rise of fascism?
