@felixsalmon.com have you guys ever considered bringing Jamison Greer on Slate Money? He was interviewed on the New York times daily podcast and while I don't agree with his takes on the tariffs he appears to be much better capable of defending them than the typical Trump talking head.

And if Carreyrou could serve a warrant we'd have more data. Much like with the origins of Qanon you can never have a smoking gun about who did what but you can create a compelling circumstantial case. I understand your misgivings about the origins of Carreyrou's interest but it isn't disqualifing.

@felixsalmon.com @emilypeck.bsky.social Carreyrou used the same method to find Satoshi that the FBI used to find the UnaBomber. They used language and grammar analysis and then ultimately published his works in the newspaper. His brother recognized it. Every bit of writing analysis lined up.

@felixsalmon.com @emilypeck.bsky.social Internet privacy? To avoid scammers when I used Tinder I would Google the phone # of the women I'd match with. Some scammers use the same # a lot. When I googled one woman's number her whole life appeared: home and business addresses, social media, ECT.

Makes you wonder what the stats would look like if we had data from all of the states. Looking at the ones not contributing you can make assumptions why.

This is just a repeat of what happened with the mortgage crisis. A whole lot of people made what they thought were smart financial decisions but were in fact incredibly bad. A $1500 down payment on a 3 year old Subaru with monthlies North of $500? That's a horrible financial decision.

The moment that ad dropped I saw multiple liberal TikTok accounts crying about American Eagle and Eugenics. Some of them professors and all of them saying some version of "if you don't see this then you don't have media literacy". It's the same purity test bs we've seen before.

Social media works best when people freak out over something. That's an easier lift for conservatives because they always harken back to this mythical past and aren't reliant on facts. Liberals freak out of American Eagle ads that make them look like pearl clutching fools.
