You're invited to go on The Last Voyage of the Demeter (2023) with #FrightClub Friday at 10 PM ET. Available on Fandango (free w/ads). Also on Peacock. Then if anyone's still stirring, we can get Macabre (1958) at 12:20 AM ET. Available on Tubi, more. Altogether, approximately a three-hour tour!
Poster for The Last Voyage of the Demeter (2023). Ship's prow with unusually sad-looking figurehead, creepy figure looming above, lots of cyan. A lamp by the figurehead, dangling on a chain, lights the way forward.Poster for Macabre (1958). Night scene, but with lots of wild colors in the illustrations and texts. The film title in yellow, some German above that in bright light blue (note: it's William Castle so the movie will be about as English as it is possible to be), ghostly heads in red, a moon and tree in more shades of blue. There's a graveyard in black and shades of gray, and a skeletal hand in white with neon yellow glowing around it. There's a lot going on here. I love it.

Get outta your mind with a #FrightClub double feature Friday. Beginning with Session 9 (2001) at 10 PM ET. Available on Shudder. Then continue at 11:45 PM ET with Eli Roth's Dream Eater (2025). On Tubi, Prime, Shudder. We don't really dance, but we're in the zone.
Poster for Session 9 (2001), by Brad Anderson. David Caruso, Peter Mullan, Brendan Sexton III, Stephen Gevedon, Josh Lucas. "Fear is a place." All the images are indistinct. There's a room, with an abandoned wheelchair, and an almost transparent figure of a man walking down a few steps, away from the room, in the foreground. In the background, a creepy-looking abandoned asylum (a real place, and that's exactly what it was). This is all in shades of rust. Everything looks very old, like it might not really exist anymore. Poster for Dream Eater (2025). Man, looking wet and dirty, with horizontal lines on the image like he's on an old television, silently screaming. "It won't let you sleep." Alex Lee Williams, Mallory Drumm.

It's #TalesThursday so come on by and enjoy some Tales from the Crypt with #FrightClub at 10 PM ET! Tonight we have Season 2, Episode 18 (1990), and Season 3, Episodes 1-2 (1991). All on Shudder and Tubi. And AMC+ if you have it! S2/E18: The Secret; S3/E1: Loved to Death; S3/E2: Carrion Death.
Comic cover for Tales from the Crypt S2/E18: The Secret. A little boy in a coonskin cap looks up at an unseen adult (holding his hand, but that's all we see of them) hopefully. A house with sign, "Gaines Orphanage," appears in the background, so it looks like the child is being fostered or adopted. Larry Drake and Grace Zabriskie are in this one!Comic cover for S3/E1: Loved to Death. This shows a little flying Cupid aiming an arrow at a pair of good-looking young adults, one of whom is in her underwear. The people look like Andrew McCarthy and Mariel Hemingway, because they are. The Cupid, horrifyingly, looks like Jay Leno. I didn't see a credit for him for this episode, but he might be in it? You never know with Tales from the Crypt.Comic cover for Tales from the Crypt, S3/E2: Carrion Death. A vulture plucks out Kyle MacLachlan's eyeball. Kyle doesn't look too happy about it. Yes, by the way, vultures can and do hunt! They are rarely this aggressive with humans, but hey it's just a TV show, we should really just relax.

Poster for John Carpenter's They Live (1988). Roddy Piper, holding a gun and wearing the famous sunglasses, is surrounded by the real posters ordering, "CONFORM," "OBEY," and "CONSUME."
"Who are they... and what do they want?"
(I have a sneaking suspicion they might want people to conform, obey, and consume, ijs.)

You can start your Monday with no sense of Dread (2009) knowing you'll be safe in a #FrightClub escape at 10 PM ET! Available on Tubi. Our time will come.
Poster for Dread (2009). A woman, looking cold, clammy, and dirty, huddles in a corner of what appears to be a room made of stone or concrete. It is uncertain whether or not she has any clothing beyond rather a lot of thick, long dark hair. The title of the film, together with the line, "Your time will come," is written on the floor in front of her in what perhaps is mud. Or it could be blood; the color is sufficiently desaturated that it's hard to tell. I think I'm going with mud. It looks pretty black to me.

Join #FrightClub tonight for a Friday double feature, beginning with Lokis: A Manuscript of Professor Wittembach (1970) at 10 PM ET. Available on Tubi. Then continuing at 12:00 AM ET with The Great Alligator (1979). Available on Tubi and Prime. All are welcome. Let's read to the alligator!
Poster for Lokis: A Manuscript of Professor Wittembach (1970). Let's just call it "Lokis," shall we? Yeah. Anyway, the image shows a horrifically distorted man's head, in that it seems to have been somehow blended with what might be a warthog in approximately the middle, where the eyes would normally go. We're talking a lot of teeth and tusks, here. Above that are eyeholes, but without eyes. Below is a Gentleman's Tie of A Certain Period, with a moustache indicating same. All in sepia tones.Poster for The Great Alligator (1979). This is an actual photo of a theater poster (someone is selling it someplace). There's an alligator, naturally enough. That it seems to be breaking out of paved city ground is a bit more unusual. Also, turning over a car while it's at it. "It's 36 feet long. It weighs 2,000 puonds. It lives 50 feet beneath the city... [then in italics] And it's breaking out!" Well, you'd think I might've seen that last bit coming, given the picture. As always, #TeamAlligator!

It's Friday of FAT BEAR WEEK so let's look at some BEARS 🐻 with #FrightClub! At 10:00 PM ET, Grizzly (1976). On Prime, Tubi, more. Then at 11:45 PM ET, Grizzly II: Revenge (released 2020; completed 1983). Tubi, Hoopla, more. All are welcome! Bring picnic baskets.
Poster for Grizzly (1976). Very large bear, standing up. Possibly a victim of questionable taxidermy. Insets of Lots of Actors.
"18 feet of gut-crunching, man-eating terror!" Which might sound overblown, but have you ever seen an annoyed bear up close? Probably not, because you most likely wouldn't be reading this.
Love the bears. Enjoy the bears getting fat. Do not approach the bears. 😅Promotional art for Grizzly II: Revenge (1983). George Clooney, Laura Dern, Charlie Sheen, Louise Fletcher, John Rhys-Davies. The main bear art looks similar to the original Grizzly: a big bear, standing up, possibly a victim of questionable taxidermy. This one is considerably less fierce however.
We have been advised to look out for the banana boy in this one!

Poster for Touch Me (2026). It's a lot of hot pink. A young woman has something wrapped around her neck, which she does not seem to mind at all, to put it mildly. The thing around her neck looks like a maybe a snake, or possibly a very very very long tongue. It's pretty gross.Theatrical pre-release poster for Mars Attacks! (1996). It's a whole lot of bright green, and at first glance it looks like cabbages, but then you look again and realize they are all brains. It's a field of brains. And out from under one of those brains peers a pair of eyes...
"Nice planet. We'll take it!"
Jack Nicholson, Glenn Close, Annette Bening, Pierce Brosnan, Danny DeVito. And lots more wonderful actors!

Promotional art for Wolf Girl (2001). Girl, wolf, dark. I presume it's pretty much what the title sounds like, but haven't seen this yet so we will all find out together! Tim Curry, Grace Jones, Victoria Sanchez, Lesley Ann Warren.
I further presume that the big names here only make brief appearances. Again, we'll see.Pre-release poster for Big Shark (2023). Greg Sestero, bless his heart, who was in a teaser trailer but is not in the final movie (Mark Valeriano is), Isaiah LaBorde, and of course, Tommy Wiseau. The scene is very dark. Three men stand in water or fog, with a large shark mouth looming behind them. "Can New Orleans survive?"
Based on the promotional art alone, this is promising for bad CGI. We'll see!

What's that? You have some sweet nothings for us? Oh, good. Please join #FrightClub Saturday for a double feature beginning with The Whisper Man (2026), at 10 PM ET. Available on Netflix. Then we continue at 12 AM ET with Strange Darling (2024). Available on Shudder.
Poster for The Whisper Man (2026). It's a very red-saturated profile of a man, with a hand, attached to another person, reaching out toward his head. Possibly into his head. It's hard to say. This is pretty impressionistic.Poster for Strange Darling (2024). "The cleverest thriller of its kind." Two people are in the woods, and one of them is hiding from the other. In my opinion, this poster is misleading, but it complemented the double feature's other poster nicely in visual terms. Also the whole movie is misleading so, fair play! Text: "Here kitty kitty."

The image is mainly made up of slices of faces arranged as if they are shattered mirror pieces. Cassandra Naud in Influencers (2025). In this image, her distinctive birthmark has been either edited out or covered with makeup. She has blood on her face however, which is considerably less attractive. Comics page held by the Crypt Keeper in Tales from the Crypt S2, E1: Dead Right (1990). There's a lady in a bustier and a silhouette of a man with a knife. The lady looks like Demi Moore, because she stars in this episode. The man looks like Alfred Hitchcock because that's hilarious. Comics page held by the Crypt Keeper in Tales from the Crypt S2, E2: The Switch (1990). There's an older man, a pretty young woman with a giant fupa, and a mirror. In the mirror is Arnold Schwarzenegger, because he directed this episode. Comics page held by the Crypt Keeper in Tales from the Crypt S2, E3: Cutting Cards (1990). Game of cards, gun, lots of sweat, and one evil big grin.
