Just started school again so there’s been a lack of art from me recently… but here’s a piece I did for my friend as a part of an art trade :)

12月3日は涼太の誕生日。Happy Birthday! 🎉　今年はまだまだ紅葉の盛り。 Dec 3 is Ryouta’s birthday. Summer was too long and winter has come too late this year. Leaves are still beautiful red even in December. #ArtworkMoa810

starting in the 8th overtime you snap the ball from the middle of the end zone and the only rules are that you're not allowed to vomit or cry

ok enough of me yapping- Here’s a character I was working on for a DnD campaign (though it only ran for a session or two). He’s an Eladrin elf. #DungeonsAndDragons

I’m of the firm belief that, in order to make a romance a good, solid part of the story and something that players will remember, you have to go full send with it.

TLDR of that talk, she proposes a new system of romance in games that gives character romances more depth than just being a toy for the player to put points into and instead giving them an actual personality + wants/needs in a relationship. And I WISH more people would actually think about that!

I watched this panel from GDC once by Michelle Clough (ill link at the end) about making romance in games feel less like a token system where you put in an affection point and get a romance scene. And that really stuck with me! I think about it all the time when I write any of my games now.

Which is fine, sometimes! Sometimes we just need a quick breakaway from a game to date the characters in it. But I don’t think that makes it a GOOD romance route.

Disclaimer, right off the bat: I don’t think all games should have some kind of romance. I think romances and character relationships in general are just hugely downplayed when it comes to RPGS. I see a lot of games treat their romances as a side story that doesn’t really interact with the main one.

game dev pro tip: if you're struggling with motivation, try setting realistic goals like "today i will open the project folder" or maybe even "today i will look at one (1) line of code"
